Yesterday I made it JUST into the bmi range of over weight. Why a bmi of 29.6. So literally only just in there. But it's there. I've lost almost 5 stone. 2 more to go to get in the normal range as I'm 12 st 6 just now. I was 17 st 3 at heaviest.

I don't have many people I feel comfortable telling in real life. People are noticing my weight loss but I'm not making it public. I'm playing it down when they ask.

I find it hard to discuss in real life as not many people know that I used to be anorexic as a teen and v unwell. Then bulimic but functioned well for many many years. Then switched to over eating. Which is the one you get least sympathy for but it's the same brain process...using food as an emotional took wether you are over/under eating binging/purging/starving/over exercising.

I never thought this would be me posting this. Ever.

Name changed cos I feel a real shame about taking about over eating. I wish I didn't but I do.

What a fantastic post. Well done you :-)

I totally agree re over eating attracting much less sympathy even though, as you said, it is not that different to under eating - I see both as harming oneself with food.

I have just managed to drop under a BMI of 35 and 30 is my next goal. You are an inspiration.

CiderwithBuda · 27/05/2018 15:57

Well done! That is amazing. And figuring out the mental side is SO key.

Lonesurvivor · 27/05/2018 15:58

That's amazing, well done you!

CiderwithBuda · 27/05/2018 16:40

I’ve just worked out how much I need to lose to not be in the obese category. 30 lbs. Sigh.

I’m doing MFP - 1490 cals per day and exercising.

I’ve set myself lots of mini goals to get there and that is my first big goal.

NeverHadANickname · 27/05/2018 17:28

I just looked at that after reading your post Cider and I have 28lb to go. Done 21 already though so I'm sure it's manageable.

Simbachippy · 27/05/2018 18:35

Reading your post, it could have been my post... I really relate to you and your life experiences and journey.

Well done and thanks for posting!

My BMI was 33, now on 30.5, can’t wait to be in the 20’s...

MooPointCowsOpinion · 27/05/2018 19:08

Well done! (From another teenage anorexic who went to over eating too! Solidarity!)

Teddybearonthewashingline · 27/05/2018 21:52

I once had an argument with a cow GP who sarcastically mentioned my weight and I said yes it's from issues before like I've always had food probs I use to be ana. And she said there's no like. I said of course there's a link it's the same issues being felt with by food. It's just morphed how it presents. The abuse I was trying to ignore with food was still the same.

That's meant to say no LINK

That’s amazing OP! I’ve dropped from a BMI of 44 to 34 this year and am desperate to get into that category but it’s slow going... you should be so proud!

banannabreadforme · 27/05/2018 22:26

Well done that's brilliant x

JemmimaJ · 28/05/2018 00:29

Well done. I've had disordered eating all my life caused by childhood issues. It's hard .

ilovepixie · 28/05/2018 00:36

Well done OP. I was 17 stone 2 I'm doing slimming world and I'm now 14 stone 3, so I still have a bit to go

Waddlelikeapenguin · 28/05/2018 00:46

Well done that's bloody brilliant Flowers

PearlyG8 · 28/05/2018 00:59

You are an inspiration. Living proof it can be done. I was at 30.5 for years (down from 39 max) and never managed to get that last bit, now annoyingly 34.5. Moving more and more and stocking up on veg. Sugar a real stumbling block...

MardAsSnails · 28/05/2018 14:45

That’s awesome, well done!

I’m starting from a BMI of 41.7. Have lost 9kgs in 8 weeks (and have been on holiday for 10 days and away for 3 nights twice on business in that time).

Worked out that I need to lost 39.9kg overall to be ‘normal’. Not. A. Chance. Only another 20 or so to go til overweight

Babieseverywhere · 28/05/2018 19:19

Well done. What an amazing weight loss story. Good for you. :)

ChocEggNoThanks · 29/05/2018 19:02

Well done. Delighted for you - I know only too well how hard it is!
