16/8 diet/intermittent fasting

Has anyone tried this successfully and can talk me through it? The benefits sound incredible (almost too good to be true) and I think could be something that really works for me but it seems to go against everything I know and I'm worried about it messing around with my metabolism and causing damage.

Hi I've just started 16:8. I'm 4 days in and am finding it fairly easy to do. Before I started I searched 16:8 and IF on mumsnet and read all the threads I could find - there's a thread further down in weight loss chat and there's one on the bootcamp topic and in 5:2 fasting topic.

I'm spending this week learning about my hunger. I write down the time I stop eating at night eg 8pm then I see how long I can next day go before I feel hungry - so far it's til around 1 or 2pm. I'm aiming to do 16:8 on 5 out of 7 days. At the end of the week I will decide what's suits me best and use this to plan another week that I'll review/revise at the end of that week.
I'm not counting calories or cutting out food groups but I'm choosing my food more wisely and trying to go hungry rather than being scared of ever being hungry
