am trying really hard to get fitter. Haven't set out to lose weight but need to and naively thought that by increasing exercise and continuing on with a healthy wholewheat this and that and cutting down/ almost out booze that weight loss might be a reasonable side effect!! particulary 6 weeks plus later

going to gym 3 times per week, 30 mins aerobic fat burning followed by 1000m row challenge ( have decreased time from 5.05 to 4.26 mins), then weight machine things for 30 mins. Usually followed by a swim( 25 lengths), also try to throw in an hours aqua aerobics if it hasn't been cancelled.

anyone else this has happened to...?
am not going to throw in the towel, as enjoying it but bothered that seem not to have lost weight.
Am going to have my thyroid checked next week, but feel likely is normal

Hi Friendlyedjit. If you look back about 8 months ago, I wrote a very similar message about exactly what you are going through. I was working with a personal trainer and doing pilates and other gym stuff and eating sensibly and nothing was happening. It was the most frustrating thing, because you get told by some people to chill about it, and others tell you to focus on your baby and not to be so selfish (seriously had this! Grrr!!) People just don't understand what it is like. I think we are just unlucky as other people put in minimum effort and the weight just falls off. Just do exactly what you are doing and it will happen, it just requires a huge bucket-load of patience. (AAARGH! another word I detested by the end of it!!) I am 11 months on and now finally back in my pre-preggers clothes but not before a whole lotta tears!! Good luck and stick with it! (I have a brilliant eating plan- v simple, but it helped me shed the last few pounds at the end, and it was given to me via a nutritianist, so healthy too! If you want to know what it is, let me know.)

Hi friendly,

Do you feel slimmer? It may be that you are loosing inches rather than weight. Perhaps you are building muscle, which is heavier than fat, and gives the illusion that you are not loosing weight when infact you are.

It may be worth writing down some of your measurments and checking them again in a few weeks. This happened to me for ages. I found it really hard to shift the weight but I dropped a dress size.
