WHY AM I NOT LOSING WEIGHT???

Pandoraphile · 04/10/2017 13:55

I've been trying in earnest now for around 3 months. I have a gym routine (every other day, weights and a bit of cardio. I used to be solely cardio but in the interests of losing weight I also took up weight lifting.) So I spend around 20/30mins really, really pushing myself with the weights before doing ten mins of intensive cardio. I come out feeling like I've had a good workout and my muscles are tired the next day).

My diet has had a complete overhaul. Very low carb, no crap (processed foods, chocolate, crisps, etc.). I snack on things like wafer thin ham, boiled eggs and Babybel cheeses - one at a time I mean!

I've cut my alcohol intake drastically so very small amount of calories, occasionally, from that and I drink loads of water - easily 5 pints a day, if not more. I don't drink anything other than water or tea. I sleep 8 hours a night.

I can see my body changing, my clothes are looser but this is NEVER reflected in actual weight loss! The scales are staying stubbornly just a couple of pounds lower than when I started.

I'm so disillusioned that I feel like saying - fuck it and living off chocolate and wine for a week. I'm so desperate for my hard work to be rewarded by weight loss :(

Can anyone tell me what my stupid body is doing??

Might not be your thing but try Slimming World. I've got a few stone to lose and I've not had to cut my calorie intake or anything. If anything I'm eating more now than I did when I was gym-ming and dieting it.

Honestly. I lost half a stone in 3 weeks, my start weight was 11st 11.5lb!

I'm sorry if that offends you @OwlinaTree Grin

But it's true. Why do you think people make cakes with carrots? Because they're so sweet!

BeatriceBeaudelaire · 05/10/2017 00:21

You’re eating too much.
Breakfast= good
You don’t need toast
1 egg not 3!!!
A snack and then 2 dinners??

Ollivander84 · 05/10/2017 00:35

Beatrice - I think it's or, not both!

3 eggs is fine, I would be chewing my arm off after one egg and I'm 30lbs down so far

OwlinaTree · 05/10/2017 06:03

One egg for lunch? One egg?

I do Slimming world and happily chow down on carrots and multiple eggs and have lost 46.5lb. I don't calorie count and have a bmi of 21 so I'm not exactly massive!

OwlinaTree · 05/10/2017 06:06

I've no issue with the fact that lchf works, I'm sure it does given the people on here that follow it and their success. But some of the advice on here is just... unsustainable /unrealistic.

Pandoraphile · 05/10/2017 16:25

"Two dinners" 😂😂😂 Definitely not.

I did eat a piece of toast this morning after the gym. Breakfast is at 7am and I'm generally back from the gym around 9:30-10. I am genuinely hungry though.

I had porridge with water and it was fine! And lunch was a 2 egg ham and cheese omelette :)

pandoraphile if you can, ignore the scales! I'm in a similar position to you and I have dropped a clothes size, feel amazingly fit and strong, much trimmer, and have only lost about 5lbs on the scales?! it's obviously dropping off though as so many people have commented. so I don't really care.

I agree perhaps porridge then toast is a lot of carbs, try a coffee and half a banana before the gym to give you energy then perhaps keep the porridge for after! I like protein yoghurts as a snack for less carbs, keeps me fuller for longer. If you're exercising a lot you will struggle without ANY carbs at all, so fruit/ veg is fine but cut out the refined stuff like bread/ crackers.
It will happen, just takes longer for some. You're doing it in a healthy way so well done (smile)

That's not 1500 calories. Sorry.

OwlinaTree · 08/10/2017 23:02

Well it's impossible to know how many calories it is because we don't know the portions sizes.

OwlinaTree · 08/10/2017 23:03

If the op is tracking calories and says it's 1500 I think we can take her word for it.

DistanceCall · 08/10/2017 23:08

I was assuming normal rations (more or less). A cheese and ham 3-egg omelette is easily 500 calories. Porridge and a banana another 300 hundred calories. Toast, 200 calories. That's 1000 calories by noon.

DistanceCall · 08/10/2017 23:13

And I agree with other posters that 1500 is closer to a weight maintenance diet than to a weight loss diet.

Elusiveone · 08/10/2017 23:44

Depends on your starting weight regarding calories. Nhs website have a good calorie calculator. Im on 1500 a day and loosing but i was big to start with. But have managed to lose 8 stone so far in 18 months
