Just before going to bed one evening this week, I walked round the bedroom until it clicked over to 6000..... how sad is that?!

MadameButterfly · 17/07/2004 04:57

Tommy, I have a stepper sinilar to this one and use it when I am watching TV at night to help get my steps up if I am short for the day.

Tommy · 17/07/2004 14:23

Good idea - but I know I would never use it!!!
This is making me think a bit more about walking though which is easy if the weather's nice. The other evening I was going to email something to my friend who lives about 10 mins walk away so I walked round with it instead to bump the steps up. Much healthier and more sociable!

I am so embarrassed and have decided to walk to Toddler group tomorrow to make up for it.

MadameButterfly · 18/07/2004 01:35

Flaming heck charlie, how many steps?

Did you walk all over the country?

MadameButterfly · 18/07/2004 01:36

BTW I will be walking to Tumble tots tomorrow , which is about 3 miles each way.

ponygirl · 18/07/2004 02:00

Hi there, I am still here, just forgot to let you know, CP3.

60, 249 (better than last week!)

Congrats, CP3. Do you get a few days off now?!

CP3 · 18/07/2004 13:48

Too right i get a repreve this week(sp,sorry). Only did 5,000 yesterday and 7,000 on Sunday.

And yes i practically walked the whole of bloody Spain, but loved it. On the day we did Gibratlter i did 13 miles and was exhausted. Just wieghed myself and have lost 5llbs so am very pleased with myself (preen, preen).Ive also decided that i now want to live in Perto banus(again excuse spelling). Spain is the cleanest place ive ever been too. The airport was shinning. Had to change Ds on the floor as no baby changing but it didnt matter as floors were spotless. Imagine changing your baby on a English toilet floor. No thanks!!!

Good luck with your walking this week.

Congratulations to all of you. I'm very impressed by your totals. I think I've now got my pedometer set correctly, and I've started wearing it all day as most of you do. Only problem now is getting it positioned correctly on my hip. I checked the total yesterday midday when I was out, did a fair bit of walking, and got home to find the silly thing had only registered another 400 odd steps since midday! The pedometer seems to do register more if I clip it to one of the front pockets of my jeans rather than up higher on the waistband. Any one else find that?

So - my (rather pitiful) total for last week was 41,844 though I don't think that reflects what I actually walked.... and now I need to get off Mumsnet and walk to/from Marks & Sparks......but, guess what? Not in the mood. Ah well, here goes anyway.....

MadameButterfly · 18/07/2004 16:00

Well I did my 5k Race for Life today. Which means I have done well over my 10,000 steps

yoyo · 18/07/2004 23:31

Have just bought a pedometer (Oregon Scientific PE316CA) but cannot get it to measure steps anyehere near accurately. It seems to double regardless of adjusting stride length to improbable distances. Anyone experienced similar problems and if so how did you correct it? I don't want to rely on the doubling factor as I really want to give the 10000 my best shot!

CP3 · 18/07/2004 23:55

Hiya, checkk you have it on right setting. There should be just a step setting where you dont need to put your stride length in. Mine only wants the stride length for jogging. Failing that i dont know sorry, you could always phone the manufacturers.

I did walk to toddler group today! I let DH take the car to work so I wouldn't be tempted. So, I've done over 10,000 today already and still have my before bed walk round the bedroom thing to do

CP3 · 19/07/2004 00:06

Tommy, im gonna get one of madambutterflys steppers things as this week ive been really bad as full time at work.

Trouble is CP3, you can't sit on Mumsnet and step can you?! I seem to do more of that these days than watching telly (cos there's nothing on) or when I am watching, I'm ironing I did jiggle about alot the other evening (don't get too excited - I sing in a Gospel Choir) but I didn't add any to my steps! I was very disappointed

CP3 · 19/07/2004 00:11

Oooh a Gospel choir how lovely. Is it like Sisteact the film.Would love to attend a Gospel church, dont have one near us though.
