Hi all
I bought a Fitbit at the weekend, hoping it'll get me out of a rut and get moving a bit more and lose a bit of weight.
I've not got too much to lose but being only 5ft 2 and a real pear shape I start to look bottom heavy very quickly!
I've got quite into the Fitbit and wondered if anyone on here would be up for a bit of a Fitbit challenge? No one I know seems to have one except for my super fit sister and friends!

I love my fitbit-I would love to join.
(admittedly I'm not actually sure what I'm joining but pick me!!)

FinallyHere · 09/05/2017 08:44

And me too, pleeeeeeeease.

[do we look out for a PM? I'm using the app so would need to look on the mobile site, i think]

I've had a good few weeks especially with the milder weather, with my daily average above 10k steps, when my fit bit went wonky for a couple of days. Agghhhh. With advice from the phone line, Ive reset it and it seems to be counting again but I,m struggling a bit with motivation. Telling myself that yes, I do get the benefit of being more active even if my precious fitbit is not counting the steps but...

BigGreenOlives · 09/05/2017 09:14

Hi, I've sent you both pms

FinallyHere · 09/05/2017 10:26

Hurrah, thank you

BigGreenOlives · 09/05/2017 15:56

I've worked out how to set up a group on Fitbit. Now the tricky bit - name and would members prefer it to be private (invisible), fully public or public but invitation only.

There are already 2 Mumsnet Fitbit groups, neither of which have been active in the last year. Please give me your ideas & we can work with the general consensus.

BlahBlahBlahEtc · 09/05/2017 16:02

Off topic a little but I take it a fitbit is actually worth getting? I've been pondering getting one for a few weeks but as it's so much money I haven't jumped in yet! Is it really as good as they say?

BigGreenOlives · 09/05/2017 16:33

My smartphone has a health app & I have also used the step feature on that. If you have a smartphone why don't you try using that first & see whether it motivates you. If it doesn't there's probably no point getting an extra gadget, if it does try the most basic, you can always upgrade at Christmas or on your birthday.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 09/05/2017 17:48

BigGreenOlives thanks I have added you and the two ppl you suggested....
Don't think we are a group yet?
Or I don't know where to look Confused
I'm not that fussed how you set up the group-I've not been in a fitbit group before.
what do you think? You'll be managing it? Maybe public but invite only as otherwise could get chaotic?

charimito · 09/05/2017 18:03

I would vote for public buy invitation only

BigGreenOlives · 09/05/2017 18:04

That's kind of what I think but I am a great believer in inclusivity to ensure no one feels left out. We've all read enough AIBUs about Wendies and bullying by exclusion.

Was thinking along the lines of 'Fitbit Friends starting May 2017' - nice and snappy!

kally195 · 10/05/2017 09:40

Can I join please? I helpfully have no preferences either way to public/invite only etc. I just need a friendly kick up the bum to move more and get some good habits!

FinallyHere · 11/05/2017 08:16

Thank you very much, BigGreenOlives, much appreciated.

I tell myself i don't need my fitbit to motivate me, but couldn't find it one day this week, and found myself thinking whats the point i wont get the steps registered instead of, oh, yes, more steps for my fitbit. Sad but true, I'm motivated by having my steps recorded.

AmayaBuzzbee · 11/05/2017 12:54

Please could I join the group too?

BigGreenOlives · 12/05/2017 18:16

I have set up a group using the dashboard on the Fitbit in community, it is called MN Fitbit Friends 2017. If you would like to be added to it, please find the group & then send a message.

This is intended to be a very inclusive, supportive group with the main message being turning up is the most important thing. We all have bad days or weeks so no judgement!

BigGreenOlives · 13/05/2017 08:47

I think I have invited everyone to join the group now - if you haven't received an invitation please pm me your email address & I'll invite you.

Minniemagoo · 15/05/2017 09:38

Hey, this weeks workweek challenge is full so if anyone wants to look at creating one let me know and we can set that up?
