I started 10 days ago and could do with someone to keep me company!

I have done lighterlife in the milton keynes area, I think most areas have a counsellor, you email them from there website then they send you details of your nearest classes, you also have to wee on a dipstick at your class each week so they can tell if you are in ketosis and not cheating!! even though I did cheat once a week after my class, normally I would go out for a meal for a treat, thare is so many things you can do with the food packs I used to make icecream or a mousse. good luck, i wish you all the best with it

soapbox · 17/07/2004 12:49

Well just to keep you posted - I lost another 5lbs last night making it 18lbs in 3 weeks

I feel like I'm settling into it fine now. Just got my holiday to contend with now.

Mouseman and Hollydolly - have you kept the weight off since you stopped LL? Hollydolly - how much did you lose altogether?

Well done Soapbox! Makes my 2lb this week on WWOnline look a bit piddly! That's great

soapbox · 17/07/2004 13:15

Thanks Marina!

The others in my class have been going a week longer than me and they seem to have settled down to 3-4lbs a week, which makes your 2lbs look just fine

Hi
Thought I would give you an update!

Was away on holiday for 2 weeks but kept my weight stable while I have been away. In 8 weeks (2 of which were holidays so no weight loss) I have lost 2st 1.5lbs!!

I am so pleased! Was easy to get back into it after the holiday and I was straight back to a good weight loss each week. Stll quite a way to go but I am still very motivated to keep going!

How are you all going on on Lighter Life??? I've just booked onto an information session next week. I'd never heard of Lighter Life until this morning when I started a thread about the Howards Way diet and someone kindly told me of this thread!!!!

woodpops · 06/09/2004 08:15

Has everyone given up on lighter life then?? I've got an introduction to it this Thursday.

soapbox · 06/09/2004 09:30

Hi woodpops!

No I haven't given up. Done 11 weeks now and lost 2.5 stones!!

I've still got quite a bit to lose so I am keeping going!

Have you found the discussion boards on Discovery health. They have a great lighterlife secion.

look here!

Good luck for Thursday - let me know how you get on!

woodpops · 06/09/2004 10:27

Thanks. How are you finding it soapbox? What are the meal replacements like?? Sorry for all the questions!!!!

soapbox · 06/09/2004 10:31

Woodpops - depends what you like. I take the soups and the lemon bars (which I freeze so they are chewy when I eat them). I really don't like sweet drinks so I didn't like the shakes at all. Having said that the vast majority of hte people doing LL seem to prefer the shakes so they must actually taste nice

You really need to get into the water drinking habit - so might as well start now!

Is it the introduction meeting you are going to or your first session?

OP posts:
woodpops · 06/09/2004 10:39

Introduction meeting.

I was a bit worried about the shakes as I've not really got a sweet tooth. I once tried the slimfast diet but the shakes were that sweet they made me sick.

I sad am I though?? I'm feeling quite excited at the thought of a new diet??

fio2 · 06/09/2004 10:48

gosh you loose weight that fast?? wow

soapbox · 06/09/2004 10:48

You need to get a doctors certificate before you can start so it would be worthwhile booking the appointment now so that you don't have to wait so long before being able to start.

You will get the forms and everything tomorrow.

I was the same as you before I started and TBH I'm still excited now as the weight just seems to be falling off. As a life time dieter it is just amazing to find something that really works. The 11 weeks have really flown by.

I intend to keep going until Christmas when I should be at my target weight. How much do you have to lose??

OP posts:
woodpops · 06/09/2004 10:59

TBH I threw the scales away at home as I found them that depressing. I haven't a clue what I weigh at the moment but there's a good 3 or 4 stone to go. To think in 96 I was 9½ stone and a size 8. Marriage and kids aren't good for your health!!!! I became too content with my life.

THe dr's appointment isn't a problem. You have to make your appointments the day you want them at my surgery which is really good. I briefly spoke to the dr about it last week and she was very supportive and told me to find out some more info about it.

Dh is being great and told me that when I do start it not to cook his meals, he'll cook for himself as he doesn't want me to be tempted at all. He's being really sweet in fact.

I think it's the speed of the weight loss that it exciting me. To think I could possibly get into that little black dress for christmas.

How do you maintain the weight once you go back onto 'real' food????

I'm so sorry for all the questioning!!!!

soapbox · 06/09/2004 11:03

There is quite an extensive maintenance program - meetings and weigh ins every week for 12 weeks and then once a month for 1 year. You can go pack onto packs at anytime if you think things are getting out of control, although people often mix packs and real food for quite some time just until they feel 'safe' and in control of their eating.

You will easily get 4 stones off by christmas!!

woodpops · 06/09/2004 11:13

He, he, little black dress here I come. Thanks ever so much for all your help. Roll on Thursday.

soapbox · 09/09/2004 22:47

Woodpops - how did you get on????

OP posts:
woodpops · 13/09/2004 08:27

Really well. After a 40 minute drive down some very dark, narrow, creapy roads. In fact nearly pooing myself at times I arrived. Sat in the car for 10 minutes thinking is this safe!!! How silly am I. Anyway there were 3 other ladies there and we were told to watch a video. I don't know if you've seen it but it made me laugh, one woman on the video was worried about her teeth at the start of the diet because she wouldn't be chewing!!!! Anyway been given all the forms and I'm seeing my GP tomorrow for her to fill it in. I think the plan is to start the new class 23rd October. But I'm gonna give it a shot. I've not told anyone either so hopefully they'll noice the weight melting away. How are you doing soapbox???? I'm still really excited about this diet. Can't wait to start it!!!! Wish the class was starting this week.

soapbox · 13/09/2004 21:04

Hi
I lost another 3 lbs this week - so not far to go not to my 3 stones!

TBH it seems a bit of a dream really - I couldn't have imagined getting this much weight off a few months ago!

I will do phase 2 and aim to lose another 3 stones, that will get me to below 10 stones which is fine at my height (5'6). So still keeping at it - hopefully it will all be gone by christmas

Don't know if your LL person mentioned that if you try to reduce your carbs prior to starting the program and increase your water intake, it makes the first week or so much easier. I did this and managed to lose a bit of weight between the intro meeting and actually starting the diet (basically followed atkins for a couple of weeks).

Good luck - let me know how you are getting on!

OP posts:
woodpops · 14/09/2004 11:38

Wow, you're doing really well. Have people started to comment???

woodpops · 20/09/2004 11:31

New class is starting this Thursday night so will keep you posted.

soapbox · 20/09/2004 11:36

Oooh! You must be feeling very excited about getting started!

Let me know how it goes - remember the first week is the worst - it gets much easier after that!

Good luck!
