9 Stone to Lose Before April 2018.... Doable?

picklypopcorn · 06/06/2016 12:20

I need some hand holding I think and maybe some lots to lose buddies?

I need to realistically lose 9 stone in total to get to a healthy weight and I want to do it before I get married in 2018, with enough time between goal and the wedding to sustain it and get used to a new body... is this pipe dreaming or is this doable?

I'm doing weight watchers and I'm down to 17st 5.5lbs from 9st 1lb (YIKES!) just after Christmas. Progress has been difficult due to a mental health hiccup the last few months but I've got myself back together and I'm ready to pick this up again now.

I had a "CLICK!" moment last night which said if I don't do this now I never will, so I need to get my sizable arse in gear! Grin

Anyone in a similar boat?

Can I join- I gave 4 stone to lose.
Start weight 12.1
Goal weight 8.0
Method hypnosis app and trying to only eat when hungry.

I really want to lose the weight but don't seem to have had that aha moment yet and keep losing and gaining the same half a stone. Now struggling with Peri menopausal symptoms to make it even harder. Any tips or how to get out of this pattern would be great.

Morning Losers Grin

I had a terrible couple of days and just couldn't hold it together. I ate a whole bag of kettle chips and a whole packet of caramel digestives ON MY DRIVE HOME (1 hour) last night... seriously what is wrong with me??

It's like I go into some kind of trance, I know I shouldn't be eating it but have no sense of consequences or anything, all that matters in that moment is that I'm eating "bad" food. That doesn't even make sense and afterwards I always feel awful! Why do I do it??

The night before last as well I grabbed a KFC on the way home even though I knew DP had cooked dinner... I've realsied my drive home is a massive flash point for me and I seem to really struggle to keep my head with the prospect of an hour in the car ahead of me, anyone got any ideas on how to solve this?

Audio books? Phone someone on hands free? Just as a brain distraction

Or Chewing gum, if its a need to feel like you're eating? Huge drink before you leave so you feel too full to eat? Might not work if you need to pee before getting home though!

Already listen to audio books, I have an audible subscription which I LOVE Grin

Chewing gum is a fab idea! Also the big drink thing could be a really good shout as well, I'll buy some gum today and give that a try Smile I'll report back!

been drinking loads of water every time I wander into kitchen. Only trouble is I'm in and out of the loo! The sunny weather helped but it is rainy and colder here today.

Bloody work! I do nights so by the time I get there I'm tired, it's 6/7 hours since I ate dinner and there's always cake and biscuits knocking around in the staff office - in the last 3 nights I've had a load of malted milk biscuits and chocolate cake after being good all day, need to stop!

May I join?

I think pricklypopcorn that your goal is achievable and it's good that you are doing something that doesn't make you feel deprived as it is hard to maintain willpower over a body that thinks that food is limited.

I have previously lost 6 stone in 9 months through reducing calories by reducing portion sizes mainly, followed by 1.5 stone (and put it almost all back on over the last 4 years). I started the year off okay losing about a stone, but found it hard to stay on track and put on most of what I lost. However, I have managed to improve my overall activity level using a fitbit, so I hope to build on that.

So... DH who is also a bit overweight (though less than me) has decided he wants to try low carbing for his diabetes, and I want to support him and know it will be so much easier for me if there just isn't the stuff I'm trying to avoid brought into the house, so I'm ready to focus on it again.

To those doing crash diets.......don't do it!!!!
It is simply not sustainable and you will fail.

I have been doing SW and have lost 3 stone 3lbs and got to target but I eat LOADS......I mean LOADS.....

the more vegetables you choose, the more you will lose.

It's a fabulous plan and I highly recommend it.

How is everyone doing?

I've had a great week in terms of eating better (portions controlled, eating more wholesome food) and trying the lowish (but not VLC) carbs. It's so much simpler with DH on board too though he's finding it tougher but also noticing his symptoms of his diabetes have reduced.

I haven't been quite so active overall, but did get a 13k day on my fitbit, which was my highest so far I think. I'm suffering a bit with my hayfever/asthma at the moment so won't do anything too strenuous yet.

My weight is down by 10lbs (some of this will be change in the amount of food in my system and fluid, but obviously it's easy to get a big calorie deficit at this stage whilst still eating reasonably because of where I' starting from).

Fell off the wagon pretty majorly last week, went for dinner with a friend and had creamy stroganoff, lots of wine and then 3 desserts between us
Set off the sugar monster and on Thursday i ate a full Victoria sponge and 4 mint aeros was also pretty bad
Desperate to get back on it though, 2 weeks til my next depo injection and therefore official weigh-in
Downloaded a 'quit sugar' hypnosis app too (will try anything at this stage!) so trying to get that in at least once a day
Bought an exercise bike which I'm going to beg ex-DP to put up for me tomorrow night so hopefully can start burning a bit of flab too

It's official: Today I stepped on the tesco scales and have a 52% body fat percentage.

I'm officially more fat than human.

9st 3.6lbs of my body is fat. There's only 8st 6.8lbs of my that's actually ME.

I feel like a complete dick. A really fat, complete dick for letting this get to this point.

I've been off plan for about 4 months now and just couldnt get back into it...

I think today was the shock I needed, I'm suitably disgusted to get my sizable arse in gear now and readdress the balance a bit!

Bah... horrible shock.

I'd like to join you on this long journey. I did have 5st+ to lose but I've lost my 1st stone now Grin Smaller portions, sensible choices, snacking is out apart from the occasion bit of fruit.

pickly I'm more fat than me too Sad I've bought fat scales for home. They were £25 but remind me everyday to keep trying.

I would like to join you all too, I ideally want to lose 7 stone. Going to do SW again because I know how well it works when I stick to plan.
I need better eating habits, I eat for every mood, happy, sad, angry, I just fill it all with food!
Will go shopping this morning for more fruit and veg and also weigh myself and face up to the fact that I have completely and utterly let myself down.
Good luck everyone!

Guys.....I have done this.
In October 2007, I was 17 stone
In October 2008 I was 9.5 stone

People I knew started walking past me in the street - I was totally unrecognisable.

Initially I lost at a rate of a stone a month.

I went low carb...It totally sorted out my Blood sugar levels and stopped me pigging out.
First thing I did was buy posh ready meals (M&S) for a month to get my portion sizes under control.
After that it was easy.

The weight stayed off even through having two kids.

You can ALL do this :)

Wow SeasonalVag, well done for keeping it off even after pregnancies. I'm scared of not maintaining as I lost 7.5 stone before and gradually put it almost all back on after my focus turned to other things (it's not as if I started binging to break a diet, I guess my portion sizes started to increase and I slipped into old habits over time).

Did you do exercise too, if so what kind?

pickly popcorn you are all human! Be kind to yourself. The goal isn't 0% bodyfat anyway, I think women are meant to have 20-30% (lower end for some athletes) so you don't have quite as far to go.

I'm down another 3lbs this week. I did go swimming with my friend though we took my DS so spent most f the time playing with him rather than doing lengths (we only did two each) but we're planning on going again ourselves and next time we have DS we'll swap him over more. And we did walk to the pool then the park and back which is something too.

Brace yourselves ladies....

Last night I went out for a meal for my sisters birthday and had steak.. AND ASKED FOR SALAD WITH IT INSTEAD OF CHIPS.

I loved it, it was yummy but that makes me a saint, right?? Grin

Can I join you please? trying to lose a lot of weight but keep losing and gaining the same stone. Currently size 24/26, weigh 19st 12lb and am 5ft 1in. I've got 5 dc had fairly close together and never lost the pregnancy weight in between. Was trying to lose 6st this year but it's nearly July and I've only lost 2lb. I don't know what diet to try. My 3 year old has a lot of operations and I find I comfort eat rubbish while he is in hospital. I also eat dinner really late, usually loads as I'm starving by then, so many bad habits. Need to start on Monday.
