Which food 'type' should I skip?

Need to loose quite a bit of weight

But don't have time to faff with special meals or going on a 'diet' and don't have time for Weight Watchers etc either.

I thought that maybe if I excluded one type of food from my diet, it woud help me loose weight.

Reluctant to leave out dairy, so the only other thing I can think of is bread but does this include all bread (or just white bread) and will I also have to stop eating cereals (or will something like all bran be ok)

I wan't to be realistic about this as life is very very hectic and quite stressful at the moment so really don't have time to give too much considration.

So, for the most impact, should I skip bread or dairy to help with my weight loss?

personally i wouldn't leave out a particular type. everything in moderation! you need a balanced diet, not a limited one.

hi asleep, I seem to have a problem with moderating things (hence needing to loose about 5.5 stone!)

So thought it would be easier to eliminate the most fateening thing and replace it with something healthier (such as fruit)

You are absolutley correct though, but it doesn'r seem to be something I can manage

I have been sticking to calorie counting and so far I have lost a pound a day. Having said that I had been eating like a horse over Chiristmas and so the amount I was taking in each day was unusually high. I have gone onto a website and worked out the amount of calories I should eat each day to maintain my weight and how much I should eat to loose weight. It's definately working just now. I don't know what will happen when I get rid of my Christmas weight, it'll probably slow down to a more managable loss.

I could try to find the site if you'd like?

If you're going to be realistic, then cutting out bread and/or dairy is not the best way to tackle weight loss.

If you want to be sensible the GI diet is very good. Where you can eat small amounts of grainy bread, brown rice and brown pasta but are also sensible about the rest of what you eat and can quite easily by slotted into everyday life.

Theres some info Here and Here

I have just started slimming world and if you only do 'green days' it's really simple- no weighing etc.and you can eat loads.
I don't see how omitting a food group will help really.
when you say you don't have time, do you mean to attend meetings etc?
Am interested as I thought the same but we'll see how it goes...
