How bad is the Christmas damage?

I've just weighed myself and am 10st 13 which is "only" a gain of 4lbs in the past 10 days and 6lbs in all of December. I have to say I was delighted my weight still started with a 10 and I hadn't slipped into 11st something. I was expecting it to be worse as I feel so bleurgh but I think that is because I am bloated, lost any tone as haven't done any exercise in a month (partly illness, partly socialising) and have had at least a couple of drinks each day for a month when I don't normally drink.
I hope to lose it all again in January and then want to shift a few more pounds too so I am into the normal BMI weight rather than the very heaviest weight I can be without being an overweight BMI.

I relaxed my diet for 5 days and am showing a 1kg gain. Hoping this will drop off now I am back on my plan and at the gym again. I lost a lot of weight this year and was down to 59kg just before Xmas (60kg now) and hoping to get to 53kg in the next three months then maintain.

AuntieStella · 29/12/2015 10:15

Not too bad, until I couldn't be arsed to cook and sent out for pizza (I should know by now that's a bad move).

Still under the start of December weight though.

So onwards and downwards for the New Year!

BarleysFiddle · 29/12/2015 10:34

I was down 1.5lb at slimming world this morning, but that's on the back of gains over the previous two weeks as well. I am back on the wagon this morning, and DH says he'll try to do it with me, but he won't be attending classes/weigh-ins as such. Just eating what I put in front of him!

I started at 15st 4lb, hoping to get down to 10st by my birthday in October, and am currently 14st 2.5lb. I'm going to also try to go for a walk at lunchtime every day. There's a 4km loop that I can do pretty easily in the hour and still have my lunch. I'm doing Yoga as well, and plan to start couch to 5K in the New Year. (Next week like...)

Barleys I did C25k this year. You will feel like you are/want to die in the first week but it is amazing how your body adjusts...and changes shape. My are has re-appeared this month as I was too ill & too busy too run.

A few too many "too's" at the end there.

I put on two pounds at Christmas but have lost one since. So, not too bad but hoping to lose a couple more. My bmi is just below average for my height/age so not too worried. I'd like to be a bit more toned though.

Good luck to everyone trying to lose a bit in January. I say this on every thread about weight loss, but clean your teeth a lot. Eating with newly-cleaned teeth is horrible so it's easier to avoid bingeing.

ss1301 · 29/12/2015 21:59

lol - glad I'm not alone.. I've avoided the scales but know my clothes are a whole lot tighter!! I'm starting a 9 day detox on the 4th - last time I did it I lost 7lbs and felt amazing and most importantly kept the weight off :-) It changed the way I thought about food - except at Christmas time lol

sylviassecrets · 30/12/2015 00:42

What does the detox involve ss? As would love to lose 7lbs!

Ledkr · 01/01/2016 14:23

Is anyone waiting for the christnas food to go before they start?

ss1301 · 01/01/2016 20:12

its a 9 day detox called the c9 - I did it in Sept and felt great. Gonna start it on Monday - I too still finishing off the Christmas fayre :-)

sylviassecrets · 02/01/2016 10:16

Ooh thanks will have a look!

Stoneagemum · 02/01/2016 20:19

Not braved the scales yet but by the fit of my jeans I'm guessing around 7lbs gained. Some of which will be bloat/water weight due to eating lots more carbs than usual. The xmas chocs are now gone so back on it and hopefully get back to my usual weight by end of Jan

Floppityflop · 03/01/2016 13:04

If I wait for the Xmas food to go I reckon I'll be here until March! Hope I can at least feel a bit lither by end of January.

Ledkr · 03/01/2016 13:53

Well no more alcohol for a bit, healthy meals just with quality street to follow I guess it's better than nothing.
I'm unable to gym as I have a broken arm but intend to walk home from school drop off the long way round and the same for pick up.
Id like to go back to work feeling less whale like.

LaurieFairyCake · 03/01/2016 14:43

An extra 7 pounds

ToastedOrFresh · 04/01/2016 07:08

I daren't look ! I'm too ashamed.

I'm going to give myself a break and weigh myself some time in January. When I've got back on my diet and exercise for a couple of weeks.

Clothes are tight, as if a size 20 wasn't embarrassing enough already.

Stoneagemum · 04/01/2016 18:34

I braved the scales this morning and I was spot on a 7lb gain. Back to low carb tomorrow as today was a catered works conference which is always bread and pastry galore.

Plan for tomorrow, eggs bacon and tomatoes for breakfast, soup and cheese for lunch, carrots and humous for snack and slow cooked lamb casserole for dinner. Not really low carb but lower than the carb fest Christmas has been and I need to ease myself back in gently!

ThatsNotMyHouseItIsTooClean · 04/01/2016 21:45

I'm reassured to see I wasn't the only one. I started eating better on Saturday and am already feeling less lethargic & bloated. I've thrown out the Christmas food that wasn't going to be/didn't need to be eaten by me & things like chocolates are in a bit of the garage only accessible by step ladder as I'm hoping going to get the step ladder will seem like too much effort so I won't bother.

Bit the bullet and weighed myself. Was surprised to see I had only gained 1kg. That's 'only' a couple of pounds.

So, how come my belly and bum have got even bigger ?

Probably water retention because of carbs and salty food and my *period is overdue. OK, I'm clutching at straws here, but give me a break, alright ? Smile

In my defence I did do my first, 'Boxfit' class of this year. That's exercise with a few thumps on a punch bag thrown in for good measure.

*No biggie, there kind of irregular these days the rascals !

ToastedOrFresh · 06/01/2016 02:35

They are = they're, not there as I put above. (People getting this bit of grammar wrong do my nut in too !)

Also, people have fought back from much worse than regaining lost weight, even if was a significant amount.

So, I'd better stop sighing and procrastinating and get on wi' it !
