Heeeelllllp!

I was down for an operation today that was cancelled just minutes before they took me to theatre. And because of how infrequently the surgeon operates, and an upcoming family holiday that falls at the wrong time (as far as rebooking the op is concerned) I have an 8 week countdown.

I endeavoured to lose weight for this op and only lost a few lbs. Too many excuses family events, too many disorganised days and less exercise due to excuses made and problems that my op should have sorted.

5 weeks til half term and a family holiday. Then a week away and then 2 more weeks.

I will be happier with my weight. I will have more of my wardrobe to choose to take away with us.

Dithering whether to sign up for ww yet again or mfp yet again or try just being sensible yet again. Not up for 5:2 as it makes me think about food in the wrong way. And I don't want to low carb either, although will eat plenty of meals like that anyway.

Any takers? Anyone else with targets/deadlines ahead and wavering motivation. (Please say it's not just me!) Grin

Hi Marnie I think I was on another thread with you. I have lost 10 and a half pounds since then and I am still plodding on. I am now 12 0.5 st and I'm aiming to be 11.7 by half term when we go to the Isle of Wight for a break with the dc.

Have you decided which diet you will follow? Ive been doing ww and it is working well for me as I seem to be in the right state of mind, which I think is the key.

Let me know how you are getting on.

Hello I have been in a similar position to you. Too many excuses. Last week I joined the gym and have been using the rower and treadmill gradually. I am 86kg and need to lose 20kg. I have changed three diet habits and it is working well. I have cut out evening carbs, cut out snacks in between meals and reduced alcohol to one drink 3 times a week. I have lost 2lb in the first week which is fine by me - this is not a 'diet' like calorie counting which I can't do forever, it is just a few changes alongside my regular routine. I have a relative coming in three months from abroad and really want to have lost 10kg by that point. Good luck!

Eight weeks is not too long. I've started low carb again 5 weeks ago and lost 6 kg, so far, so good. I was obsessed with food and feeling seriously deprived of my beloved crisps for the first 1-2 weeks. I've been fine since then and will keep going for another month.

As you know, exercise is great but it's the diet you really need to address. Good luck.

Hi Mercury.

I'm ww-ing again. I've lost a few lbs since I started my last thread - onwards and downwards is my motto.

Fox, I like the idea of the small changes. I am cutting out snacks between meals in the day, having low carb salad lunches with fruit and then having a sensible meal in the evening. I'm aiming to not snack in the evening either, but occasionally have the points left to have something if I'm really hungry.

I'm fitting in some walks in the evening as well as my zumba class.

Can I join? I need to lose at least 20kg and could really do with a kickstart.

I'm going on holiday in eight weeks so it would be a great target. I also have zero will power and need a bloody big kick up the arse.

I'll kick yours if you kick mine. Grin
