I lost ten pounds (I weigh myself every three weeks) since Jan but last weigh in showed I'd put one back on. I know why, I'm doing MFP but have got increasingly lax about recording wine; I drink most nights (I kniw, i know), not loads (I am rarely drunk) and think it's sabotaging my calorie cutting. So, I'm trying to cut it out, at least during the week, so I can get down to a stone lighter by mid April (want to lose about two and a half stone but taking it slowly.) Has anyone done similar and seen a significant difference? I'm hoping to feel inspired rather than just desperate for the weekend!

MyFitnessPal

the best of the online calorie count websites because it picks up weekly averages and micronutrient data

I have to assume that they will be selling info to University research teams because their data set is huge and rather good

Out of curiosity anyone gone from weightwatchers to MFP. How did you find it?

I shed three stone after quitting alcohol which was the soul cause of that three stone weight gain. Don't drink at all now not even carbonated drinks. Have a friend whose quit drinking too and slowly Her weights shifting too.

I gave up alcohol for January - no weight loss. I gave up for lent last year too & didn't lose an ounce.

I am not overweight but drinks loads of wine.

Delayed response Joyce-my skin and mental state is better plus I couldn't cope with the hangovers

My dp is training for an event and has given up alcohol so I didn't want to drink alone
Aaannnnd I gave it up because I eat too much when drinking

So there are positives

Plus I can jump in the car whenever I like which you can't do when you've had even just one...

My bank balance doesn't seem to be improving at All though Shock

I gave up alcohol in order to give up smoking as well as calorie control and exercise and I've lost 10kg since January. I'm now so happy not drinking. DH and I would drink daily as an excuse to smoke. I feel so much better and sleep so well. I'd recommend it. You could try vodka and low cal mixer in a long drink which can be lower in calories. Fever Tree naturally light ones are lovely.

Yes - I lost lots of weight, looked healthier and slept so much better and saved money - I was very strict about not drinking for about nine months..

Unfortunately I enjoy drinking & didn't manage to sustain giving it up Sad.
