I need and want to lose a substantial amount of weight. I have previously tried both but a long time ago. I am 37 with two kids under two. I am on a budget and not a very good cook and don't have much free time.
Which group would you say would suit me best?

Having done both I would say:

WW is great if you prefer convenience food - most supermarkets have a range of ww meals, snacks etc. Not so great if you want to cook 1 meal for the whole family.

WW requires more tracking & keeping on top of daily points but this does allow for more snacking & treats but this isn't necessarily a good long term approach as I found once I'd hit target it was very hard to continue without feeling like I was still on a diet (or just revert back to old eating habits)

I prefer SW as I think it's a healthier & a more sustainable plan (you can go days without measuring stuff or tracking your foods if you eat within their extensive list of foods) but then I do like cooking!
