I am just having a couple of weeks off, hence no post. It's DD's birthday party this weekend and had a few things on so I can't stick to the diet. I seem to be hovering around the same weight though at the moment so not too bad. I will be back on track after Easter

Demented · 02/04/2004 20:34

Hi Hula, just asked on the other thread if I had missed your weigh-in, I hadn't seen this. Enjoy your couple of weeks off, look forward to having you back on board!

Am depressed and pis@@@ed off with diet.
I lost a stone, from 11.3 to 10.3 - that was two weeks ago. Been 10.4 for last two weeks. Am following the ww points!!! What's going to happen when I stop the diet if i stay the same when I'm on it?? Why can't I shift those last 4lb?
Wondering whether to jsut say sod it, I'm meant to be 10.4 - but will I just stick it all back on again when I stop being obsessed with 20 points a day....
Getting very bored of counting points though.

TheCODERATOR · 02/04/2004 20:45

NO MIRANDA DONT STOP
It took me awhile to shift the last bit

Dont stop

TheCODERATOR · 02/04/2004 20:46

tell me what you have had today

Hulababy · 02/04/2004 20:48

Miranda - I have spent the past 2 or 3 weeks eating well during the week, but having treats at weekends, including pizzas, etc. And I have drank during the week too - mainly wine. My wieght has remained stable. Not counted for a while at all.

TheCODfather · 02/04/2004 20:49

me too h

miranda2 · 02/04/2004 21:20

Today I had 22.5 points as I saved 2.5 earlier in the week and had to use them up.
I ate...
a glass of OJ (0.5)
2 weetabix with milk and a little sugar (3)
3 fishfingers, 2 slices bread, parsnip and carrot soup (7.5 in all for lunch)
2 satsumas (0.5)
some grapes (1)
a cake (I had a friend round) (6)
3 quorn sausages, green beans, brussels sprouts (2.5)
4 satsumas, more grapes (2)
total, 22.5

yesterday I ate:

OJ, 2 crumpets with low fat spread and marmite (3.5)
stirfry of veg and a smallish pork steak (4)
3 satsumas (1)
soup (1)
3 slices of bread and low fat spread (5)
jam tart (1.5)
low fat icecream with maple syrup (2.5)
grapes (1)
total = 20 points.

Any comments/advice? I like my fruit as you'll have gathered! But the big change for me has been giving up cheese - I used to happily eat 1/4 lb at a sitting, now I only buy mini babybels for ds.

TheCODfather · 02/04/2004 21:21

I would bin the bread
I haev a salad or crackers and PHilly

TheCODfather · 02/04/2004 21:23

a salasd dressing and a hrad boiled egg - ? 2

pork chop stir fry ved and leeks

? 7

and wine 2

Hulababy · 02/04/2004 21:23

Miranda - as you are nearing the 10 stone mark now, how about trying to see if you can cut down to 18 points for half the days a week. See if that helps?

TheCODfather · 02/04/2004 21:24

agree hula

miranda2 · 02/04/2004 21:25

I thought you HAD to use all the points? Do you think i should do the 18 point thing again for a bit to crack this impasse?
I get really hungry by lunchtime. Though usually I have a stirfry which is low point.

TheCODfather · 02/04/2004 21:25

yes but drink diet coke!!

and have a sald asn fruit?

deffo 18 points

miranda2 · 02/04/2004 21:26

ooh, posts crossed. OK, will try alternating 18 and 20 (or doing 18 Mon to Thurs). Thanks for help and motivation!

TheCODfather · 02/04/2004 21:27

dont stop

"nothing taste sa s good as being slim feels"!!

Hulababy · 02/04/2004 21:33

Miranda - you don't have to use all your points but you should never go below 4 less than your allocated points (so 16 at the moment for you). Otherwise your body goes into starvation mode and starts to store fat. But alternating with just 2 or 3 points every so often won't be a problem.

As an example of what I have:

Breakfast - cereals with skimmed milk
Lunch - salad with seafood and/or olives (no dressings, or bread, etc)
Dinner - fish, veg and rice/potatoes; veggie alternative, and as a treat WW (or low fat) chips. I use WW bread too to keep points down.

Extras = often have a glass of wine, use about i/2 pint of skimmed milk maximum (probably less), maybe a low fat cake bar or yoghurt, or piece of fruit.

When doing WW properly I normally eat between 16-18 points a day, sometimes go down to 14 if saving points for weekend.

TheCODfather · 02/04/2004 21:33

yes fisha nd seafood very low cal

geekgrrl · 03/04/2004 12:15

can I join (baaad time of year for starting a diet though!)? I really need to shift a stone - lost weight quite well since ds was born 4 months ago but haven't lost any for a month now. Don't want to be this weight forever. How does the points system work? Sorry for being so ignorant.

Demented · 03/04/2004 15:14

Hi geekgrrl. The points system being talked about here is Weightwatchers but MN Mamas is for Mums/Dads who want to lose weight using whatever method you fancy.

If you want to join e-mail me at mn.bigmamas(at)virgin(dot)net (obviously taking out the brackets and putting in the @ sign etc). If you let me know your starting weight, target, if you have one and then all you do is email every week (on a Thursday) and let me know your weightloss, I will chart your loss of a spreadsheet and announce your loss on a Friday night. We celebrate milestones, first half stone etc, and I am hoping to post some motivational messages, if I can get motivated enough to do the research ().

Look forward to hearing from you!

I keep forgetting to post on the slimming threads (probably my memory colluding with my fat belly!!)! Anyway, am down from about 11st 4 to 11stone exactly!! Wahey!!!

Demented · 04/04/2004 22:19

Well done Wobblyknixx, do you want me to add you to the spreadsheet (I have just had a look and don't see you there). If you do e-mail me at mn.bigmamas(at)virgin(dot)net, let me know your starting weight, goal weight (if any). Then just e-mail me with your loss every Thursday and I will announce you with the rest of us.

Demented · 04/04/2004 22:20

Just checing in to see how everyone is doing during my time off. Had DD's party today so very glad I am having 2 weeks out! Still feeling guilty though

Demented · 04/04/2004 22:26

Don't feel guilty Hula, enjoy it, come back to us refreshed!

BTW if anyone is trying to mail mn.bigmamas I am having a problem just now receiving the mails, hopefully it will sort itself out tomorrow otherwise I will have to get DH to phone Virgin and sort find out what is causing the problem. Just in case anyone is waiting for a response and saying, "oh she's posting on MN but not answering the e-mails" .
