Do your periods affect your diet?

Well?!!! I've got my first period since DS was born (was Bf) and am just starting my combined pill again - only had one inbetween coming off the pill and getting pregnant
So in effect, its pretty much my first natural period since about 1842.
And I have NOT STOPPED EATING. I just can't stop myself, I am not even hungry now but I just keep on eating sugar and stodge; I may as well barricade myself in the kitchen and eat my way out - is this common or should I just get control of myself?

I'm glad I read your thread. The last couple of days I have been really craving anything sweet. Cream cakes chocolate and now you've mentioned period I know why.

This is very common for me. I suffer from anemia and whenever I get a period I always crave chocolate. I couldn't understand why I was craving so bad, got my period 2 days ago.

Thanks and good luck with steering clear.

completely normal, I think! at least, I have that. I suddenly go mad with my head in the larder 10 times a day stuffing biscuits and raiding the children's sweeties and then I think... "ahhhhhh, my period must be due". and about 2 - 3 days after the sugar craving madness begins, there it is.

but knowing that it is due to your period doesn't make it any easier to stop stuffing your face I'm afraid!!!!
oh and I also retain water like a camel at that time too. and am shitty and sarky to dh. it is a disastrous few days.

Did you know that a rat can live longer without water than a camel.

I read this on the back of a penguin wrapper

Lisa78 · 27/03/2004 22:11

better than the back of an icecream tub

I prefer penguins than icecream, DP loves icecream and can't start a tub without finishing it. I don't buy icecream or penguins anymore

Oh God, are you one of those women that says things like "I'm not buying those biscuits cos they'll just get eaten" ?

Yeah, thats bad isn't it. I'm dreading DD going to school and having a sweet for her lunchbox.

I'll be like the woman on the advert putting in a apple and then hiding in the car eating a big bar of chocoltae (not muller light I don;t really like yogurt.)

Actually I've just joined the mn mamas group so hopefully she won't have to suffer her greedy mother.

Lisa78 · 27/03/2004 22:31

You're not a greedy mother unless you try to eat your child

Well I thought of it but she's a little too small. I'm trying to fatten her up for crimbo
