Healthy eating tips to shift a stone

I'd love to lose a stone. I seem to have gone up a size in trousers and while I'm not exactly "big" it's big from my perspective. It's the heaviest I have ever been and that includes being pregnant with all three of my daughters.

So any tips on healthy eating to shift this stone?

Come and take a look at the Eating Better thread in Food, no diets but mindful eating and conscious choices, nothing is banned but we try to avoid white carbs, processed food and sugar, try to tune in to real hunger and satiety. Lots of great recipe ideas and lovely support.

Weigh and measure everything you eat. I've lost 3 stone in 9 months and most of it is down to being much more aware of what I'm eating. I use a calorie tracker on my phone which is a god send. It helped me change how I was eating too, as when I'm sticking to a limit, I have to pick between a healthy lunch of fruit, cheese and crackers, or 8 wine gums. Some days I picked the wrong one and I've been hungry And it's ok to be hungry sometimes. I have had to remind myself of this a number of times when I was tempted to grab a slice of bread and butter an hour before dinner was ready.

Good luck! I've one stone to go and finding it really hard to get my mojo back.

I've lost 3 stone in a couple of years. but I've got a few tips for speedier weight loss -

Give up too many teas and coffees and fizzy, caffienated drinks esp. 'diet' drinks (if you o.d. on them!). actually when I did this I lost a stone straight away Grin

Oh i also started having fruit before meals (e.g.for breakfast) only when I was hungry.

Also look at the Hay way of eating which is not mixing carbs and protein at the same meal. That is much better for our health.

Good luck Grin

btw I have never counted calories or weighed food but I folllow Paul Mckenna who reeducates our attitudes to food (it's how we SHOULD eat)!
