Any shredders out there?

Hello. Have started doing the 30 day shred and have made it to day 6. Have done before, half-heartedly and not made it all the way through, or even up to level 2 so looking for some ways to keep my motivation up, hence this thread.

I'm definately feeling, if not necessarily seeing, a difference and finding it easier to get through than on the first day, no more aches and recover a lot faster. Still find the first round of jumping jacks and jump rope a killer and only doing half-push ups. Have been using (I think) 1.5kg weights but think I might up the ante for the last few days of level 1.

Don't have huge amonts of weight to loose, but carrying extra around my middle and would like to generally tone up and improve strength and stamina.

Have been looking at old threads and was wondering if anyone else was mid shred?

Managed to do it last night with slight hangover, but went easy on myself and used lighter weights. Am amazed at myself. Feeling a bit grotty today (sore throat, headache) - I think my body knows it's time for level 2 and is rebelling.

No more troubles zones sounds good - will have a look.

Well done for doing it with a hangover! Eeeek, I am not looking forward to stage 2, stage 1 is hard enough! When are you supposed to switch stages? Do you just do ten days of each stage?

Yes trouble zones does sound good, I think I will have a look too.

mswibble · 21/05/2014 15:14

Oof. I was ever so slightly cocky this morning, woke up without a single ache or pain. Ha - I'm paying now - feels like I have been kicked in the stomach! Ow ow ow! And thats from Day 1. Lord help me ....

BoBoo · 21/05/2014 15:30

I think the idea is that you do 10 days of each stage, then that works out quite neatly into 30 days. Might drag it out though - I don't think I'm going to be up to level 2 today.

Mswibble - the first day was the hardest on me in terms of aches and pains, so don't feel bad. Keep going and it will get better and you will feel energised rather than destroyed.

Ah okay, I'm not sure I'm ever going to be ready for stage 2!

Does anyone combine this with other exercise? I was thinking about going running too, but not sure if it's necessary? Though I guess it can only be a positive thing!

mswibble · 21/05/2014 19:39

BoBoo so glad to hear it gets better, you've reassured me! Though the fact you managed it with a slight hangover leads me to believe you are hardcore!

Level 2 includes those hand walks doesnt it? I doubt I will ever be able to do those. I must be the most unflexible person in the world. When I did the stretches on the floor on day one, on the DVD they were all touching their feet. Me? Barely able to grab a hold of my knees! [Shock]

Well done on the scales therealeasterbunny, must be a great boost to keep going!

CarpeJugulum · 21/05/2014 20:11

Day 3 done and dusted.

I did it early yesterday, but after work today and I can say with authority, it's way easier in the morning!

therealeasterbunny · 21/05/2014 20:48

Oh I've still got to do mine, i'm not sure I can face it! I just want to sit down and eat cake this evening!

therealeasterbunny · 21/05/2014 22:19

Done!

Does the persistent aching feeling go after a few days?! I'm feeling like a 90 year old!

thedicewoman · 21/05/2014 22:23

Day 4 done here, had to persuade myself to it tonight, hope I can recapture my earlier enthusiasm! Did feel better after doing it though... planning chocolate puds for friends coming Saturday night and feeling I'll well have earned it!

BoBoo · 22/05/2014 09:40

Gah. Missed my first day yesterday as felt so rotten. Am very good at getting derailed, so determined to get back on it tonight, but going to stick to level 1.
Eater Bunny, I think I ached for maybe three or four days when I started, so you should be almost through it. I've just started doing pilates as well, but just once a week. Although the more I do the shred the more I feel like doing more exercis, which can only be a good thing. Just a thought at the moment though...

Day 4 done. DH did it with me today!

Can't wait to get to day 30!

therealeasterbunny · 22/05/2014 22:31

Boboo Did you get back on the wagon tonight? I find it easy to get derailed too so I understand!

BoBoo · 22/05/2014 23:33

I did!! And it felt a lot easier than I was anticipating; I felt like I would be taking 5 steps back by skipping a day but it came back relatively easily. Hurrah! Can't do it with my DH - his jumping jacks make me laugh too much.

therealeasterbunny · 23/05/2014 07:59

Well done Boboo! Unfortunately for me, DH is a bit of a fitness fanatic, so he found it all too easy and was correcting everything I did, so he's banned from doing it with me again!

I weighed myself this morning and have lost 3lb since Monday so am very pleased! Also, you are right, the aching does subside after a few days, which is a relief as I feel like I've spent this week waddling around like a constipated duck!

thedicewoman · 23/05/2014 09:02

Day 6 done at the ungodly hour of 6am this morning!! actually felt like I am improving, except for those awful side lunges with the shoulder lift, they are the absolute killer for me!! Excellent work on the scales easterbunny, haven't weighed myself yet, but definitely feel better all round!

therealeasterbunny · 23/05/2014 11:31

Thanks thedice! Smile

Oh god, those side lunges are awful! The real killer for me though are the press ups, I just can't do them for the full amount of time, they are so hard.

6am is very impressive, that is dedication right there!

therealeasterbunny · 24/05/2014 10:14

5lb down! I am definitely a shred convert! I bow down to Jillian. Having said that, I have been dieting amd drinking loads of water all week, so that might be a contributing factor!

BrianButterfield · 24/05/2014 17:07

I did L2d3 today - had crap sleep, feel full of cold, thought I would take a break - but something made me do it anyway, and then I felt sooooo much better, it was like magic! I like the abs stuff in level 2 and all the plank is not too bad for me so I don't find it too hard. 8lbs down and seeing real definition in my legs and abs, which makes it so worthwhile!

therealeasterbunny · 24/05/2014 19:29

Go brian! Amazing that it made you feel better. I'm dreading level 2 so glad it's not too bad. 8lb is great, well done! Grin

BrianButterfield · 24/05/2014 20:50

It really did help. I just kept thinking "I'll skip the cardio if I want/I'll only do the arms if I'm too tired", but I just kept on going. It's so annoying that exercise makes you feel better than lazing.

therealeasterbunny · 25/05/2014 21:37

Yeah, I wish sitting on the sofa eating rubbish made you feel better instead!

I've just done day 7 and found it really hard today for some reason. I had a bad food day (there may have been a pasty and white chocolate cookie involved...oh...and some sausages!) So went for a run too, which may be why I found it so difficult! Need to get back on the food wagon tomorrow or I'll quickly put the weight I've lost back on.

How is everyone doing?

thedicewoman · 26/05/2014 22:13

I had to skip yesterday due to monumental hangover..., managed today which was day 8 of level 1 and found it feeling a bit easier, level 2 for me tomorrow! Am impressed with everyone's weight loss, don't think I'm losing but I do feel stronger! Also will be back on food wagon tomorrow Easterbunny, it's been a very chocolate and alcohol based weekend!!

thedicewoman · 26/05/2014 22:13

Oh meant to say brian, I also forced myself to do it tonight and definitely felt better for it!

therealeasterbunny · 27/05/2014 08:10

I had to skip yesterday too due to...um...it being a bank holiday?! That's my excuse anyway! Back on it today, should be day 9 but will be day 8 because of missing yesterday. Whoops!
