Just wanted to say I am really chuffed about this weight loss business! Never done a diet before (honestly). I did think when i put on my first stone with ds 'wow, if this is how much worse i feel with an extra stone, how much better would i feel with one less??', but only now am i doing something about it. Must say i can't really feel the difference yet - a friend said i was noticeably thinning on the face but she knew about the diet so I think was just being nice!! But I can really tell in the mirror - surprisingly it doesn't seem to have gone off my tummy, but off my thighs and hips, which i thought were there for good (ie, not pregnancy related). Definitely a more satisfyingly svelte outline! I mean, still pear shaped but in a curvy way not a lumpy way - gosh i'm chuffed with myself! Sorry for the selfcongratulatory tone but can't really say it anywhere else. Thanks for the help and support of this club - its great to be able to report and hear other people doing it too. I definitely find it easier to resist temptation when i feel some sort of duty to report more lbs losses on Thursday. Only difficulty is when ds has biscuits as this evening - I can take them or leave them, but i can't refuse them when he takes two out of tin and says 'one for me and one for oo, mummy!'. Ah well, 3points down the drain.
My hot tip is bacon stir fry - only 3 points (from the 2 slices of bacon), and very tasty and filling (just masses of veg, no rice or noodles).

Bugger have put my 2lbs back on over the weekend (staying with parents, mother wonderful cook, too much wine etc)

BACK ON IT TODAY!! Need to lose that 2lbs by Thursday so not shamed into having to admit gain

Lisa78 · 08/03/2004 15:57

anyone know how many points in a triangle of shortbread (that my neighbour kindly brought me back from holiday - its sat in the kitchen singing to me "eat me, eat me" )

CountessDracula · 08/03/2004 17:02

Oh how odd. My 2lbs is now gone again. Maybe I need new scales?

champs · 08/03/2004 17:59

CD, our body weight flutuates during the day, also our height does abit too. Our height does because our backs lenghen through the night and as we walk around, esp if we hunch, we bunch up a little.

a little hint is to only weigh yourself on one day a week, I find I get a little obbsesive if i weigh myself more often.

CountessDracula · 11/03/2004 11:03

Is it weigh in day today? I only lost another lb

Demented · 11/03/2004 16:44

I've emailed my weight to Becca but am I right in saying that she is without a PC just now? Is someone else getting the emails?

I am fed up because I have put on 1lb this week. I have decided to give Weight Watchers a go, but I don't want to go to the classes or even sign up (cannot justify spending any more money as I already pay out for fitness classes and a creche to put the kids in while I attend the classes).

Will need to look out for the points guide etc on e-Bay and quiz you lot about the details if that's OK!

Hi Becca!!! Hope the job is going OK. Hope you can get back on-lin soon, we're all missing you too!

miranda2 · 11/03/2004 21:48

I've calculated 1.5points per triangle of shortbread.

mears · 11/03/2004 22:56

Mears lost 1, total 3.
DH stayed the same, total 5.

Just incase Becca doesn't get back online.

Beccarollover · 14/03/2004 20:34

Hi peeps

Sorry about being awol - Im online again temporarily as borrowed a laptop of mum and hopefully getting new pc (thanks georgina hunny pot again)

My Mumsnet Mama's chart is not with me at the moment as I have yet to get the backup of my laptop back from work - as soon as it is I will update and compile all of the results.

I have a proposal also for the Big Mamas Club - as most of you know I have gone back to work Wed, Thurs, Fri (boo hoo) - and at the moment Im wiped out on those days by the time I get back and kids fed, bathed and bedded - also have my meeting on Thursday night so struggling to get the weigh ins sorted until late at night - I'd hate to see it go and dont want to give up on it as I know it helps me and lots of others to keep motivated so........I was thinking of moving weigh in to a Saturday/Sunday morning so I can give it my full attention

What do you all think?

Becca

Fine by me Becca!

JanHR · 14/03/2004 22:57

eVening everyone.
I am back from mums now and will be restarting the diet tomorrow.

Moving the weigh in is fine with me too.

mears · 14/03/2004 23:15

Fine by me

Demented · 14/03/2004 23:15

Good to hear from you Becca, that's fine by me too. Do you want Thursday's weight on either Sat or Sun, just thinking might be lighter on a Thursday morning than say a Sunday morning, easier to eat a lighter meal on a Wednesday night, may have had a takeaway on Saturday and still be a bit bagged up on Sunday IYKWIM.

Anyway let us know.

Beccarollover · 15/03/2004 08:01

Thats why I was thinking of Saturday morning as it then gives us a full week to get rid of whatever we have on the Saturday night!?

OP posts:
miranda2 · 15/03/2004 12:15

saturday morning sounds good to me.

Coddy · 15/03/2004 12:17

I am carrying on for a bit longer too

Demented · 15/03/2004 15:39

Becca, done some more thinking, can I still weigh on a Thursday morning, send you my weight (either on the Thursday or I will leave it until the Saturday if that would be better) and have it announced on Saturday with everyone else's weight? Sorry I feel like I am being a pest, basically I am quite happy to have it announced any day, I've just got into the habit of weighing on a Thursday now and would like to stick with that.

Hulababy · 15/03/2004 16:09

I am sure that'd be fine Demented. I will probably be doing the same too as it is now just part of my routine - sad that I am I need my routines in a morning

Demented · 15/03/2004 19:35

Phew don't like to go against the flow unnecessarily, thought it was just me who liked to stick to a routine. It took enough to get me out of weighing on a Tuesday and we were going back about two years since I had weighed in on a Tuesday.

If the powers that be disagree we'll revolt!

batey · 16/03/2004 19:17

Slinks in around the door........

Just had to tell someone...I've lost 5lbs doing SW by myself since the beginning of March. Feeling chuffed, but not telling many people in the real world yet, as don't want to jinx myself.

Slinks out again...!

collision · 16/03/2004 19:19

Well done Batey....you must be so chuffed with yourself!! Dont celebrate with a box of chocs though!!!!

batey · 16/03/2004 19:34

Hhmmm, tempting!
