Losing weight but without weighing?

I was thinking about the best way to go about losing weight and since I don't have any scales, I was thinking about going off the way I look rather than how much I weigh. Is anyone doing this or tried this in the past? I'm wondering if it is less motivating than the numbers you get with weighing but I'm wary of getting obsessed with weight and numbers (due to mh reasons, can't calorie count for same reason).

Is anyone doing it this way?

Have you a tape measure? I found when I was first losing weight, that inches fell off quicker than pounds and didn't fluctuate as much. Or is that just as bad?

Our scales have broken and I don't want yo replace them. Think I will get weighed once a month at my mum's or somewhere and just go off my clothes in between. Hopefully it will make me less obsessive!

I think the inches could be as bad maybe. Not sure though so might look into that one Grin I did try some scales today to see how it made me feel but they weren't working properly and gave me different weights each time. Maybe it's a sign that I should go off clothes! Plus then I suppose I can't get drawn into any competitiveness among people I know losing weight!

Your clothes will tell you that you have lost weight, but it is a slow process, the difference between one size and the one below can be a whole stone or more.

It is hard to keep motivated, it always is with weight loss and it does encourage competitiveness and obsession. hmm

Maybe you would suit one of those jenny craig type things where you are told what to eat rather than counting calories or carbs? Can be expensive though especially if you have a lot to lose.
