Best diet for greedy pigs

Hello weight loss ladies
Like many of you I have tried loads of diets, fallen off, pigged out, climbed back on, over and over again. I have a very sweet tooth and love cake more than anything. Would rather have a cake than a sandwich, or a dessert rather than a main course. The more I eat the hungrier I get. I am no great shakes in the kitchen and I have a DH and 3 DCs to feed.
So, can anyone suggest a way of eating that would suit me and get me back in control? There are so many to choose from I can no longer see the wood for the trees!

The only thing that has worked for me is low carb. 2+ stones off and it is just the way I eat now - not a 'diet'. I have a sweet tooth but all that really meant is that I was addicted to sugar. I have more or less cut sugar completely out and between that and my blood sugar no longer wildly fluctuating due to excess carbs, I just don't get as hungry any more. Doing it takes willpower initially, but there is a whole low carb section on mumsnet with loads of support/recipes etc.

you need to low carb and get rid of sugar addiction - high protein kills off appetite and need to eat. Would be tough though!

5:2 - loads of threads on here about it. No cake 2days a week!

Thanks I'm off to explore those suggestions...
