Hello, I am 36 and have been on a diet since I wa 19!!! I am soooo bored of the food eat when I'm being "good" and I'm after some inspiration. I fear feeling hungry and I eat most foods....except sweet vegtables!
Thanks in advance to anyone who cares to share x

Not saying I agree with 'diets' (they tend to be self-defeating IME) but if you want a nice meal that won't set you up for more craving and yearning and thinking about food all the time, then have a nice mix of protein (chicken, tuna, cheese), veg/fruit and a little carb and olive oil in a reasonably sized portion.

Weirdly, I keep the most fit when I do this with a bowl of home-made spag bol or a home-made pizza every day. Loads of veg and tomatoes in it, mind.

The 'spag bol' recipe:

Chopped onion and garlic fried in a little olive oil.
Add grated carrot.
Add chopped courgette/mushroom/capsicum/celery/green herbs
Tinned tomatoes
Seasoning

Add in fried beef mince / turkey mince/ small chicken pieces / tuna.

Cook and add to pasta.

Tuna Sweetcorn Salad:

(for two)

  • two tins tuna, mixed with a little mayonnaise and some chopped red onion or shallot
  • big bag mixed salad leaves
  • cucumber, sliced
  • big tin sweetcorn
  • balsamic vinegar
  • tbsp olive oil
  • salt and pepper, maybe some fresh basil leaves, maybe a squeeze of lemon juice

Mix it all thoroughly in a big bowl and serve. I love this whether I am trying to eat healthily or not! If you want filling up even more, you can add a tin of white beans of some sort to the mix (borlotti, white haricots or whatever).

Also

  • Sweet potato, rocket leaves, sundried tomatoes all mixed with a little balsamic vinegar and topped with goats cheese
  • Ratatouille, served with a small amount of pasta and/or a small amount of grated cheese
  • Stir fries: chicken, pork or beef sliced and stir fried, with onion, garlic, red pepper, ginger and your choice of veg (broccoli/bean sprouts/mange tout/carrot etc) plus soy sauce, rice wine and maybe a spoon of black bean or oyster sauce
-Sashimi: nothing fills me up more than fresh salmon cut into fine slices and eaten with a little soy sauce and maybe a cucumber salad on the side. No cooking necessary, it's delicious as long as your salmon is fresh.

I love the Hairy Dieters recipe book and also one called Fat Girl Slim for recipes at the moment. Some great ideas in both.

riverboat that's a great recipe (the tuna sweetcorn salad). I agree about the white beans - I also like butter beans and chickpeas.
