Weight loss chat

Eat first then exercise or exercise first then eat?

I'm going out for an hour's brisk walk in 10 mins but don't know whether to have breakfast first or eat when I come back.

I do feel a bit hungry but an apple would probably be enough until later.

Any suggestions?

For walking I don't think it matters before or after. I can't eat 2 hours before a run without feeling uncomfortable....also depends on how much you eat I suppose. Either way have a large glass of water before you go.

I had an apple and a big glass of water. I then needed a wee half way round the park which made me walk faster to get home Grin!!

I got told by a trainer from biggest loser to eat after not before.

The "Fat Family Tree" Programme on C4 would suggest that exercise before eating would have a better effect. Exercise means that you absorb less fat from the food you eat into your bloodstream.

If I'm doing intensive exercise then I normally eat something fairly substantial about 2/3 hours before as I find it gives me enough energy to exercise and I don't come out ravenous and overeat/choose crap which can happen if I leave it till after. Moderate exercise I either have something small before like some fruit or just eat afterwards.

Not sure if that's the best from a weight loss point of view but it works for me!

I was told by a fancy pants personal trainer to the celebs (who also does some classes at my job [lucky] ) to workout before eating as it has a better effect (but I didn't understand why Blush ). However, I just can't do it. I feel all weak and wobbly and low blood sugar and just feel really sick the more I workout from needing food, so I always have a light breakfast first. Guess it depends what works for you.
