It is not bad in that it is still only when changing position that I Get faint...so by the time I get to the lab etc. I am usually pretty stable!

I am just so fed up with being woozy each and every time I stand up!

artyanklet · 05/08/2013 21:20

Would you mind if I joined in -have been desperately trying to lose weight for the last 6 weeks and up until this week have done really well - so far 8.5 kg, even though I have been really good and ate well, I only lost 1/2lb. I am so down about it - I have never been good at following diets but this time I have been a model student! I am so disappointed, I knew that my loss would slow down but did not expect it so soon.

I am following a diet recommended from the Drs and go there for a weigh on a Monday afternoon.

JohnnyDeppsfuturewife · 06/08/2013 09:17

Hi arty, welcome to our little thread.

I have lost 50 lbs since the first thread started last September. I was 13st 9.

How are you losing the weight? I am doing low cal except i have just spent two days scoffing home made shortbread and I think your weight loss is amazing so far. I lost just 10lbs in my first six weeks. It does slow down but I'm guessing that with an 8.5kg loss you must look and feel so much better. You might also be losing inches rather than weight so have you been measuring yourself? Since about may I've not lost much weight but my fat jiggled about and I have gone down a clothes size.

A 1/2 lb is still a loss, if you do it every week you'll lose 2 st in a year. I know it can feel depressing when you've worked so hard but it is worth it - even to not put on weight is a big achievement.

My weigh in is Monday. Yesterday I was 141.5 so I have put on .6lbs in a fortnight which included a holiday and period so I'm chuffed. It took me about nine months to unlearn many of my bad habits. I still have bad habits (have to leave the plate empty) but I'm working on those.

artyanklet · 06/08/2013 20:18

Thanks Johnny - I do have a lot to lose. I have a very dodgy knee with a threat of having a knee replacement, have all my fingers and toes crossed that the more weight I lose the less likely I will have to have the op, but as it stands at the moment the consultant won't touch my knee because of my weight.(which I totally understand and accept)

I am doing the BHF diet, its quite an easy diet to follow although I have to admit that some of their portions are tiny and I can still feel a bit hungry after.

I was very grumpy yesterday and really wanted to be naughty and eat something - but I was very good and plodded on and ate small jacket pot, cooked ham and salad for tea while all the others munched on cheese and beans with theirs. I got up today and felt so much better and raring to go again, went to the pool and swam 30 lengths (but that kills my knee for the day and so I have hobbled around all afternoon). Went to the dentist thus afternoon and had a filling replaced - my mouth is still quite sore so I cooked up some pasta and had a pasta salad.

What I find difficult is that I seem obsessed with my scales at home and every time I go in the bathroom I have to weigh myself! (even in the middle of the night!! Hmm) I need a big voice to boom out every time I jump on the scales that shout at me - get off the blooming scales!! What does surprise me though is that my weight can altar by half a stone from evening to morning!

Hope you have had a good day Smile

JohnnyDeppsfuturewife · 06/08/2013 22:16

I think i read about the bhf diet and it seemed a bit prescriptive for me. I didn't want to tell anyone I was on a diet and didn't want to eat significantly different food to my dh and two dds so calorie counting through portion control seemed most suited to my lifestyle. I can remember that horrible feeling of going to bed hungry, evenings are just the worst time as you try not to snack. It is awful but you'll get through it and your stomach will shrink so you don't need as much food. I give myself tiny portions now compared to a year ago and feel full.

I know what you mean about the scales, I really struggle not to weigh myself every day. I put the scales in the basement so I can't weigh myself all the time or after every toilet visit.Blush

I had a lovely day today thanks and I'm glad yours was better. I wore a new size 12 dress (with lipstick for the first time in ages) and felt really good. The dress is too big for me but it still looked ok. Also had one of those rare days where both dds behaved well. Usually you'd need to have the arms of mr tickle to stop dd1 climbing up somewhere and dd2 running in the road but today they listened to me.

artyanklet · 08/08/2013 11:23

Although I feel a lot better in myself and feel I have lost weight - I look in the mirror and personally can't see it! But today I have put on a pair of trousers and they are far too big! Have not changed them as it is making me feel really good!!! Wink

Tortoise · 10/08/2013 09:12

Hello, can I come back? I know I was rubbish but I need help. I've seen myself in too many photos recently and I look awful!
I'm about to lose a huge amount of weight by ending it with my boyfriend! Just trying to find the best way to do it and how to tell dc!

We had a fantastic holiday in Paignton. And generally loving the summer holidays.

Hope all who know me on this thread are doing well. And hi to any new peeps.

Xxx

Hi tortoise. Welcome back. Good luck ending it with the boyfriend, I know that things were tough at xmas. I hope you and the kids are all ok. Glad you're enjoying the hols. So am I. I was anxious as dds have been fighting a lot but they seem to be getting on.

Arty, It's a great feeling when you first start to see yourself shrinking, I wore a size 16 top yesterday (because I hadn't done any washing in a fortnight Blush) and it was massive. A nice reminder of how much weight I've lost. I still go through phases of thinking I'm fat and that's clearly not true so it's good to be reminded.

I had my best diet week in ages, managed to log everything in mfp for 5 days and I haven't done that for ages. Didn't manage my target but was only over by 50 to 100 cals most days.

Tortoise · 10/08/2013 09:33

Hi Johnny, we are all good Smile.
Will weigh myself Monday morning (dreading that!) and start afresh from then on.

Hi tort

I was thinking we should have an anniversary reunion!

Try and get all the old peeps to check in and say hi!

Tortoise · 10/08/2013 22:22

Hi ICB Smile
Sounds like a good idea. Has Youcan been about lately? I haven't caught up on this thread yet.

artyanklet · 10/08/2013 22:27

Busy weekend socialising so I doubt my weight loss will be very good although I have not been that bad but have eaten a fair amount of bread plus a 3 course meal at a wedding today - oh and I have a BBQ tomorrow! But that will be my socialising for the next 6 mths! lol

JohnnyDeppsfuturewife · 11/08/2013 15:43

Icb I don't know about you but I think I'll still be on this thread for a 10th annivsary reunion (I may be the only one). I don't talk to anyone in real life about my weight (or emotions in general) and it's kind of reassuring to have a place to discuss it. I also never used to weigh myself and so the discipline of doing it on a Monday really stops me from going mad at weekends.

Tortoise i haven't 'seen' youcan for ages, I know she was learning to drive and I think got a new job as a teaching assistant.

Arty, I always find I have no social life then two or three things at once, but I think it's good to overindulge once in a while as I find it kind of kickstarts the diet and I get a much quicker weightloss afterwards. I've had about 4 or 5 periods in the last year of partying / overeating (eg Xmas, holidays, birthdays) and I used to panic about every 1lb I put on but now I know that I'll lose it fairly quickly.

Tortoise · 11/08/2013 18:59

Well, I'm now single. And it seems he doesn't give a shit! So I need to sort my life out and move on Smile.
There are three things I need to do to start with!
1.lose weight.
2.Clear out and sort my house.
3.Contact Devon housing and see if I can get moved to Devon. I don't want to live around here anymore.

OP posts:
ICBINEG · 11/08/2013 22:06

tort that's your DC not minding that you are single?

If so then that's good news!

Tortoise · 11/08/2013 22:33

He as in boyf well ex now! I had no reply from him and he's already joined plenty of fish dating!

DC don't mind though. I've told them and I think they knew things were going downhill from me talking to a friend about him.

OP posts:
ICBINEG · 11/08/2013 23:17

Hmm well it definitely sounds like you were well shot of him!

JohnnyDeppsfuturewife · 12/08/2013 07:57

I agree with icb, it does sound like you're better off without him.

2lbs off for me so below 10st. I'm really pleased, I seemed to spend most of last week eating salads and logging on mfp.

TheHumancatapult · 12/08/2013 08:30

Hi arty and and welcome you can di it rather than weekly look at it monthly that way if had odd bad day then not as downhearted and give up

Johnny think ill still be here to as its only place feel comfortable talking about it

Tortoise
Sorry about b/f but tbh I find it far easier as a lp as for moving I did and have no regrets far better life for me and the children

1lb of for me .am dipping in and out seem have no time in school holidays for much of anything let alone eatibg good

But 4 weeks to head to airport hotel Grin

ICBINEG · 12/08/2013 09:51

Oh Johnny! you passed me Grin

I am having some water issues...and my weight jumped two kg for no real reason this week...

10 st 1.

I need to get back on the case!

JohnnyDeppsfuturewife · 12/08/2013 10:55

2 kilos is a lot, I expect you'll lose them by next week and I'll go back to losing 0.2 lbs a week. In July I lost 1 1/2 lbs and only 1 in June so my body clearly likes to do things slowly. So grateful for digital scales that can just show me the tiniest loss.

Tortoise · 12/08/2013 11:01

Right, well I'm starting at 16 st 9 Sad.
Feeling tearful today. I know I've done the right thing but its still hard.
I don't know if I should text him saying I want the money back that he owes me and my hose pipe (which I might need) or just leave it.

OP posts:
TheHumancatapult · 12/08/2013 12:24

Tell him you want the money back.then use it to treat yourself

Well done johnny icb sure it drop of next week

And sigh wilk need get strict with self but kids driving me mad

ICBINEG · 12/08/2013 13:00

How much money is it tort? Worth the agro or not?

Tortoise · 12/08/2013 13:27

It's just over £200! But I know he can't afford to give it to me. But that's a lot of money to me. Especially as I need to get DS1 a bus pass for college at a cost of £650!!!
