why has weight loss slowed down?

I've been doing 5:2 for 7 weeks now and although I lost half a stone in the first 3 weeks, in the last 3 my weight's only crept down by another pound or so.

I have been religiously sticking to 500 calories on fast days and not eating sensibly without calorie counting on other days so my overall weekly intake is much less than it was a couple of months ago.

I'm 5'7" and now weigh 10st 6lbs and although I am well aware that it's officially a 'healthy' weight, I'm still at least a stone over where I'd like to be (I feel most comfortable somewhere between 9st 2/3lbs and 9st 7lbs - anything less than that and I start to look gaunt). I'm late 40s so realise there's a trade-off to be made between bum/face Grin. I'm fairly active and tend to cycle most places

any ideas as to why it's not going down any further?

that should of course read 'eating sensibly' rather than 'not' ...

My experience of weight loss (which is quite extensive!) is that is always quicker at the start then settles down to 1-2lbs a week. As you get closer to healthy weight it becomes even harder. Our bodies are very good at adapting.... I'd throw in some exercise, or change exercise routines, that should kickstart it again. or have a week off the fasting.... good luck!!!
