Weight loss by walking - pedometer recommendations?

Been trying to up my steps per day in an attempt to lose weight combined with a sensible eating plan - not a diet, just not eating crap.

I'm after recommendations for a pedometer - cheap, cheerful but accurate.

Anyone have a suggestion?

Have you got a smart phone? If so there are free apps you can download - only don't stuff it down your bra - it doesn't register steps that way

I just use Endomondo on my phone - it tracks miles (approximately 2,000 steps per mile) as well as calories, route map, speed at which you are walking etc - also helps from getting me lost :)

Sorry! I lost this thread by hiding it accidentally!

I do have a smartphone, but often no pockets, so was looking for something to clip on or strap on.

Will look at apps though for weekends when I do have pockets.

I've got a fitbit one and it's brilliant!
I wear it from the moment I get up til bed time and aim for 11,000 steps a day minimum.
It syncs with mu iPhone (or some of the newer android phones) and has a very useful dashboard for showing history.
It tracks steps, floors, distance , calories weight and food - tho most people seem to use MFP for food logging as the fitbit uk food database isn't brilliant
Thoroughly recommend!

Not particularly cheap though ...

I got an omron one from Amazon about £15. measures steps, calories burned through walking and distance covered. Also logs about 5 days in memory. Turns out I am walking over 10000 every day but I think it will be most useful on days when I have excersised and subconsciously sit down more to compensate.
