Returning to slimming world diet

Was looking at some photos of myself on a night out this time last year....I looked bright, confident, healthy. Realised that I had roughly followed Slimming World for a couple of months before pic taken. All that fruit and veg really made me feel and look good. Fast forward to now,My hair looks limp, I feel sluggish and the healthy glow has faded.
Decided to restart slimming world today (not bothering with meetings, have got the books from 2011). I'm doing extra easy,
Need to be cheeky and pick at brains of anyone who does attend meetings.
So far today I've eaten...
3 Bananas
1 Apple
1 Clementine
Lunch of 3 Quorn sausages, 1 Jacket Potato, spring onions and cucumber.
Snacked on tin of tuna mixed with a tbsp light mayo
1 milky coffee using healthy extra A
2 Alpen light bars using healthy extra B
3 more Quorn sausages for dinner with boiled potatoes, carrots, peas, medium size Yorkshire pud and gravy
A few pickled beet roots
A Calipo ice lolly
And...a mug shot (chicken and sweet corn)
Sounds a lot I know but am still recovering from excess alcohol consumption last night !
Worked my syns out to be 13.5
Can I really loose weight if I keep eating this way ? Always did WW before but need my food and this seemed ideal...those Alpen bars are really nice, can't believe I can really eat 2 as a healthy extra...please reassure me !
Just realised, I sound like a covert advert for slimming world (Im not !)

13.5 seems low when you've had ice lolly, yorkshire pudding, mayo, gravy and 2 lots of quorn sausages (they aren't free any more)

I would have to get my book out to check though!

bunniesmum · 01/01/2013 20:25

Oh...Quorn sausages not free ! Dam. My book from 2011 says they are but it's obviously changed Sad
It says
Calipo lolly 5 syns
Tbsp light mayo 2.5
Medium Yorkshire 3
Every 4 tbsp gravy made with granules are 1 ( I made it 3 for amount I had)
Quorn sausages were a major part of my diet when I did it before...do you know how many syns they are each ?
Thanks

Off the top of my head 1.5... hang on I'll check

PersuedByPenguins · 01/01/2013 20:29

Actually they are only 1!

bunniesmum · 01/01/2013 20:31

Thought I'd stuck to it...that means I ate 9 extra syns ! Aargh, mind you, if I don't use any syns tomorrow that should balance it out...I can do that can't I ? Thanks for looking it up.

Ah, you are a saviour...so I've had 6 extra syns which totals up to 19.5 today so all is not lost Hmm

Light mayo only 2
Calipo not listed any more but similar seem only to be 2.5/3 but I suppose they are a tad bigger so your 5 probably right
Yorkshire (made with fat) 5.5
100ml gravy is 1.5
6 sausages 6

so I reckon 20?

PersuedByPenguins · 01/01/2013 20:41

I think that's fab for your first day, and you say you wonder how you can lose weight don't you! (sorry cross posts!)

PersuedByPenguins · 01/01/2013 20:45

Are you veggie? If not Sainsburys be good to yourself extra lean cumberland sausages are nice & only 1/2 a syn each

saycheeeeeese · 01/01/2013 20:45

I love slimming world will be going back on it next week!!

The only diet ive done where I haven't been starving!

You can have as much chicken, lean beef and lean bacon as you want so avoid the vile quorn!

FlipFlopFloss · 01/01/2013 20:50

Well done you for starting today. I am starting again once the Xmas crap has gone (well the stuff I like)!!

One thing I would question on what you have written is if you had the 1/3 SF WITH your meals and that as you prob know peas are not SF.

Over the years there have been many debates over some SW consultants telling some people as long as they eat the SF throughout the day then thats fine whilst others insist it has to be on the plate with the meal.

I would say give it a a few weeks doing what you are doing now and see how it goes. If you are not happy with the losses then add in the SF WITH the meal in the same plate.

Also, if like me you are an old timer to SW make sure you are following ONE plan. By that I mean dont adapt the changes and tweeks SW have made since. If youbare following a plan from a book from 2011 dont adapt the syn values and HE weights to modern time plans because you are mixing 2 slightly different plans. This is where alot of people slip up. I have a mate who is still doing SW from 1999???? and she eats tinned Stag Chilli and corned beef (both synned now days)and loses pretty much every week but she sticks to that plan as it was back then and does not deviate with a 2010/12 allowance or syn value.

Thanks for going to the trouble Penguins, Im not a veggie and normally eat a lot more variety than what I've have today but I must admit, the friend who got me into it last time made me a slimming world cooked breakfast with bacon ( no fat), Quorn sausages, eggs done in fry light, mushrooms, tomatoes beans and told me it was all free and I could eat it every day ! Flip flops, good point about SF foods, I just assumed if I eat enough spread over course of day that would work ! And say cheese, yes, nice not to starve ! X
