Long story short, I am getting married in November and really need to lose weight for this (not in a 5lbs sort of away) more like I really should lose 4 stone (which I know is unrealistic).

I don't know where to begin, went back to work in Feb full time (DS is now 14 months) and am in the process of starting my own business - in fact I will be trading in the next 2 weeks. I have no time, I love to cook but I will now be working f/t and evenings and weekends at least for the next 3 months. What should I do? I've never thought about slimfast before but right now that looks like a sensible option? Does anyone have any experience of this?

Yes! 30+ years of it. Don't go for Slimfast as although it might work initially, it will teach your body you are starving so as soon as you come off it, you'll put weight on more easily.
My daughter does what she calls "the promo girl diet".It's a form of low-carb diet. This means no white bread, pastry or pasta, ie nothing with white flour in and no white rice. However she does eat (within reason) cakes, chips and chocolate! Also she makes sure she has plenty of protein.
She is 5ft 7 and size 10 and has maintained that through the birth of her two children. My brother needed to lose weight as he has joint problems and has followed this diet. He's lost 3 stone in less than a year.

The other thing, of course, is to visualise yourself as a slim person, consciously, every morning when you wake up and again just before you go to sleep.

Hi, i have just lost my first stone with Slimming World. I would say break it down into smaller targets - I have another 1.5 stone to lose but already look and feel better with a stone off - even if I stopped now it would have been worth it.

I would say go to a meeting, you meet people and it's not so lonely.

I was v skeptical about SW but it has worked steadily for me.

I think slimfast is generally a bad idea, sorry to be blunt but it isn't food so not satisfying or sustainable long term.

PullUpAPew · 03/04/2012 16:12

Ooops, just seen the eves/weekends issue. Here you can go to any meeting so you only need to be able to spare 1 hour for any session - or 20 mins if you just weigh and go. Also think your business means slimfast less likely to work as you will need some fuel for all that work.

Thanks, wiggins that sounds very interesting.
Pullupapew I have done sw in the past and found it great, the lady who runs the local group I don't really click with so stopped going- which I guess made me full of the bandwagon.
I've also done Gillian Mckeith diet and found that worked very quickly but don't have the sort of time required for that.
I think my problem is I put this weight on 6 years about in a 4 month period (had some ishoos at the time) and want to lose it in 4 months :( - no silly girl smiley. I must find some resolve and willpower

It can take a while to find the space to lose weight though. I've been over weight for a decade and only just in the mood to lose it. You have the willpower somewhere, I just know it Smile

I know I thought I would be going like the clappers trying to lose weight. I'm 5'3'' getting married in white and weight 17 stone ish - I was 16 10 when I weighed myself last.

I lost 4 stone in 7 months, totally realistic if you can be strict with yourself.

Tips:

  • myfitnesspal and log / weigh everything you eat
  • cut out all grains and sugar (and only 2 pieces of fruit a day)
  • exercise 3-4 times a week - 30 day shred
  • Paul Mckenna for motivation

My lunch is a tub of fat free cottage cheese and a tin tuna (or mackeral) boring I know but more satisfying than slimfast and just as easy.

Also dukan might work for you as can eat yoghurt, boiled eggs, cottage cheese, meat slices, tinned fish, also salads all very easy at work. And weight comes off fast.
