Alternate Day Diet

Hi All, I'm at a point where all of my clothes are tight and I feel a bit of a disgrace, so I have started this diet today on a 'down' day, has anyone tried this diet and how did you get on? Would anyone care to join me?

How does it work?

PS Your name is the name of a castle in a Famous Five book : )

Is it Shiny, I didn't realise that, I used to love the FF books too! I must have stored it somewhere deep in my memory!
The alternate day diet works by having a 'down day' where you consume 500 calories, then the next day is an 'Up Day' where you eat your normal diet, here's a better explanation www.everydiet.org/diet/alternate-day-diet
I like the idea that although one day is going to be tough going, you can look forward to an easier day the next. What do you make of it?

I want to lose about a stone - maybe not quite that - which will take me to a very comfortable size 12, as opposed to the size 12-14 that I am now. So am looking for something that will jolt this weight loss and I can definitely do restrictive days

off to have a peruse of the link

I'm the same size as you by the sounds of it, but just at a point where my size trousers are straining! I'm 35 in June, so aiming to lose a bit by then.

Yes, like the look of it... low carbing has been working for me though. Have you considered that?

shinecrazydiamond · 13/03/2012 10:55

And, as a vegetarian, I struggle with low carb. Too fond of cake Grin

FayKnights · 14/03/2012 19:05

No, I hadn't thought of low carbing, my downfall is definitely crusty bread and butter. I'm already struggling with the alternate day diet, I was starving all day!

ha ha - what did you eat?

I love all things cake/fresh bread/chocolate/more cake... giving them up has been...emotional
