I have been taking phentamine, though a local weight loss clinic for just over 3 months now. I have lost a stone Smile which is great considering Christmas and new year was in there. This month however is a different story. I know I shouldn't but I weigh my self every few days and everything was fine, up to Monday I had lost 8lb. AF came Monday night and I am due at the clinic tonight so weighed myself this morning and I have put 6lb back on Sad. I just don't understand it, I know you can put weight on at this time of the month but I have never put that much on. Does anyone know if it is likely it has stopped working? I have been eating exactly the same as before but, I have noticed I am starting to feel hungry through the day where as I haven't before.

I found this for you.

Adverse effects

Generally, phentermine appears to be relatively well tolerated.[2] It can produce side effects consistent with its catecholamine-releasing properties, e.g., tachycardia (increased heart rate) and elevated blood pressure, but the incidence and magnitude of these appear to be less than with the amphetamines. Because phentermine acts through sympathomimetic pathways, the drug may increase blood pressure and heart rate. It may also cause palpitations, restlessness, and insomnia. Additionally, phentermine has the potential to cause psychological dependence.Shock After short term use, tolerance begins and can be followed by rebound weight gain Shock

Sensible diet would be better. JMO

What do you mean by local weight loss clinic? At your doctors surgery or just someone who has set themselves up as a weight loss person?

MyChildDoesntNeedSleep · 07/03/2012 15:22

Please be careful. I wouldn't touch anything like that. Heard too many scary stories.

it is a national company run by doctors and nurses, it is called bodyline clinic. I was offered them from the weight clinic at the hospital about a year ago but decided to try on my own and they discharged me.

Is there a reason why you are not just following a sensible healthy eating plan, be that low carb, WW or Slimming World?

MyChildDoesntNeedSleep · 07/03/2012 20:38

How much more do you need to lose, Keeping?

keepingupwiththejoneses · 08/03/2012 09:02

I have about 5-6 stone to lose. I have tried slimming world and weight watchers many times. Slimming world has never worked for me, even the lady who ran it said it was just one of those things. WW, I haven't tried the new one but there isn't any meetings local that I can make any more and I need that level of support, online would be no good.
I struggle because I do have an relatively unknown eating disorder where I wake up at night with a extreme need to eat something. This was diagnosed at the hospital, it can be resolved with CBT but there is a very long waiting list for it, I have been on it 18 months and still don't have an appointment, the tablets are helping that though.
I went last night and I had lost 6lb! Not sure what was going on with my scales yesterday morning.
