Hi expert slimmers. I have tried since having my dd 12 months ago to lose some weight with no sucess. I thought its because i wasnt sticking to the diets of choice or cheating a bit but at the back of my mind i was a bit shocked to not have lost even a tiny bit.
So last Monday i started sw and have stuck to it like glue,am probably even slightly under syns everyday.
I know its ridiculously early but i weighed today and ive not lost any at all.Does this happen sometimes? Im so peeed off.I keep reading about people who lose loads in their first week. Ive got about 2 stones to lose btw and havent done a huge amount of exercise a couple of shreds and a zumba class but im a busy working Mum who never stops so im hardly sat on my arse.
Any wise words?

Make sure you eat lots of SUper Free food - you have to eat what seems like a lot to get things going, especially if you have been on lots of diets. Try to go for a walk every day, even if only 20 mins, but walk very fast (about 4 miles an hour - I use the runkeeper app on my phone to check pace).
It will come off, just keep going.

What plan are you doing - red, green or extra easy? Are you eating enough? I'm on sw and lots of people joining the class doubt the plan, they think they can't possibly eat that much and so they eat far too little.

Are you remembering to eat and measure your healthy extras - milk etc. have you switched oil for fry light?

If yih don't have much to lose it will be slow.

Also are your scales digital and accurate? Sw scales weigh half pounds, your bathroom ones probably don't.

Have you been writing your food down? If not start now and ask your class leader to look at your sheet to spot where you may be going wrong - you may have mistaken something for free food that isn't or be getting syn values wrong. There will be a reason.

Chubfuddler · 25/02/2012 19:38

Just re read your op and see you've had problems before. To be brutal either you aren't actually sticking to whatever diet/ healthy eating plan you are following or there is a medical issue. Are you on any long term medication?

LackaDAISYcal · 25/02/2012 19:42

I agree with cardibach, lots of superfree foods and use up your syns allowance.

I've been a member of SW before and this is quite common, usually because people don't eat enough and are in the diet mindset of not being able to eat that much.

Also are you sinning everything right, and weighing/measuring things properly?

Talk to your consultant as well; she will go over your food diary for any not so obvious slip ups.

Take heart though, it's always the case Ime, that people not showing a loss in the first week make up for it in week 2 as their metabolism kick in.

Good luck :)

Thanks. Im doing ee and really havent cheated i promise.
In the past i defo cheated but had cut down drastically.
Not on meds just prozac for pmt. DD is 12 months and its weight i gained during the pg. Im 44 so i guess its harder.
Going to stick to it and see.Its only been 5 days.

I didn't really mean to accuse you of cheating as such, just wondered whether you had really got to grips with it. I thought ee sounded too good to be true (had gone red back in the day) and I know lots of other people who think similar.

Keep going and do speak to your class leader at group.

ledkr · 25/02/2012 20:34

Thanks.I think i may have been too blase with the syns. Im goong to add them up and be less vague with measurements ie, A sprinkle of parmesan should have been a measured tablespoon etc etc.Hopefully that will see to it.
Its a great diet though cos i can make the meals for all the family.

I remember the days when i could cut down on Monday to fit into a tight dress by Saturday Hmm

Ah, failing to measure properly is it I guarantee. anything that needs to be measured really has to be - two ounces instead of one is double your syns. You could be having thirty syns instead of fifteen (I think fifteen is too many anyway, I try to stick to ten).

ledkr · 25/02/2012 20:50

Thats it then. I feel quite good that i have at least narrowed it down.I will be more carefull now. Its things ive guessed such as gravy grans, dried parmesan etc. Also bit confused about the pasta and sauces,is it just bachellorsthat are free?
I got told to use all my syns btw.
Thanks for taking the time.

I don't use any pre packaged pasta sauces so can't help there. I doubt any are free though. Your class leader should have given you an online pin number do you can log on to the website which has a syn value table for branded foods. I know gravy granules are something crazy like 4 syns a tablespoon. Stock cubes are free, I use those in everything.

covermeup · 25/02/2012 21:07

I don't really have any advice other than what other people have suggested. However, I wanted to let you know that I didn't lose until week 3 and from then until about week 10/11 I lost 17lbs. I had a friend who'd previously done sw and she told me to persevere which I did and it paid off in the end.

So my only advice would be to stay positive and give it a good few weeks to see how you get on :)

albertswearingen · 25/02/2012 21:13

I have PCOS and didn't lose any on either ww or sw. I had to cut out all the treats in order to lose any weight at all and I was exercising 5 times a week. However 5 days maybe a bit early to weigh. Keep sticking to it and weigh yourself in another couple of days. I know how disconcerting it is to not lose anything after putting in all that effort but if you have no medical issues you will lose it.

LackaDAISYcal · 25/02/2012 21:47

I remember those days too ledkr :o

It's worth getting the shopping book that liats syn free and low syn branded goods.

One thing I found useful was to use my 25g cheese as my healthy extra and syn any milk I had, as I never got through 250ml semi-skim milk.

foreverondiet · 25/02/2012 23:20

Too early to tell on any diet. Need to give it at least 2-3 weeks.

And you def need to weight calorific foods.

However not all diets work for all people.

ledkr · 26/02/2012 10:15

Thanks for all the replies. I still feel positive.I was so tempted to haev peanut butter today but didnt give in.
I cant get rid of the nagging feeling that ive not been sucessfull with anything ive tried for ages but it could be cos ive not been as strict as i should be.
I had my thyroid tested as its in the family but was ok. Im not aware of any med probs though.
Ive got the book daisy its such a pain looking it up though, especially as the baby wants everything i pick up. haha. The cheese is agod idea though.I dont have much milk either.
Im trying to step up the exercise,i used to be in the gym all the time but with a baby who wakes at half five i am exhausted by the evening.
