Dieting when breast feeding.

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone could advise on how I can safely diet and breast feed and lose weight quickly.

My daughter is 4 weeks old on Sunday, and I haven't lost a single pound in the last week despite trying to eat relatively healthily. I lost about a half a stone in the first ten days after having her, but nothing since and I still have a stone to go to get back to my pre pregnancy weight.

Any tips much appreciated. My Bmi is currently 23 so not a health concern but I would love to be back in my old clothes for spring!

This thread is from a couple of days ago on the feeding forum, if I mess up the link you will find it on the second page. Hope it helps

Hehe, thanks!

that is great! I was thinking about slimming world as my mum did it and lost quite a bit! not long to six week check so will just have to be good until then and get out walking as much as possible. It is just so disheartening to have not lost a single pound after the wight coming off relatively easy with my first baby!

Advice says not to try lose weight quickly - I'm on WW and have red that 1lb p/w is safe while bf. you probably want to give yourself 3 months.

Good luck!

Your daughter is 4 weeks old. Don't think about dieting for a while!!!!

FWIW I was overweight (borderline obese) until my DS2 was 6 months old and weaned and then I lost it (3.5 stone), so now am slim. I am always starving when feeding so would rather not deprive myself when its so hard to lose weight.
