Can you literally get fat in a week

Not joking, really just wondering how quickly you can get lumbered with a lot of weight that takes ages to shift
I have been dieting and exercising in jan and feb, then fell off the wagon in a big way and have eaten lots and lots with no exercise for about a week and a half. I wasn't large before - maybe half a stone heavier than I should be, but today literally I look huge. No clothes fit, I am in leggings and long tops and feel at my heaviest for about a year. I have two large rolls of fat (sorry tmi) on my tummy that we're not there last week
How can you put on that much weight, that quick?

Maybe weight loss wasn't the best place for this, given you are all on the way down rather than the way up.....

Is your period due or have you been eating lots of bread/carbs or salty things? All of those really make me bloat so I'm absolutely huge. Try going low carb for a week and see how things go.

The WW leader of my group went away for 2 weeks on holiday and put on a stone and 2lbs! That's 16lbs! So yes, it is possible to put on weight very quickly.

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 19/02/2012 22:46

I put on 6lbs in about two weeks early in Jan. Pissed me right off as I got through Christmas pretty stable, and normally, after a two week summer holiday, when I know I do eat a lot more than normal, I gain about 4lbs.

And I didn't go mad - a bit of choc and/or wine a few nights running - just the dregs from Christmas, you know.

Am having a blood test next week as I'm convinced something's Not Right.

Sometimes just falling off the wagon in a small way can bugger things up.

Last Saturday I weighed in at 10 stone 13 - I went to a party that night, had some drinks, and then lots of food the next day. Went up to 11 stone 5 by Tuesday, then after a very strict week am at 11 stone 1 today.

It's a pain, but just keep buggering on. Grin

Thanks guys, I know I don't really deserve any sympathy. I have just been rubbish and eating all the wrong things. It's weird, it's been like a binge thing, being good for ages and then just telling myself that I am 'on a break so make the most of it'. I have eaten the most phenomenal amount of carb filled, calorific, salt ridden nonsense !!!! And just sitting here (after one of the kids smartie ice creams (wtf?) feeling sorry for myself.....need a giant kick up the lardy arse

""carb filled, calorific, salt ridden"

there's your culprit then I'm afraid. Too much crap always causes me to bloat up Sad

foreverondiet · 20/02/2012 12:23

Most of it will be bloating water retention.

Have 2-3 v v strict days after the holiday/binge, lean protein and green veg only, gallons of water. Or even just lean protein dukan style.

Only then will be you able to see damage (probably only a couple of pounds) - if you are coming up for TOTM will not be able to see damage until afterwards.

theruby · 20/02/2012 19:53

I totally get this. I lost 3 stone when from over 12 stone down to just under 9 stone and now I've gone back up to just under 10 stone because I'm eating crap its almost like I'm really abusing my body and I know it but I don't know why I'm doing it.

I know that doesnt help you but I know that feeling of doing well and then just acting like a crazy person.
