Hi

I have been prescribed this after finally persuading my GP to find out there are 'supply issues' and I can't get it from any chemist. Really disappointed. Does anyone know anything about this? I may be crap at searching but I am drawing a blank. Have phoned a few chemists and no-one knows when it will be back in.

Thanks

Cannot answer that one but medicine supplies are becoming really hit and miss. More profit selling overseas.

Hi, I have been taking Orlistat for 7 months and yesterday my pharmacy told me they could not get the prescription at the moment. I did ring lots of Chemists in the area and managed to get a pack. I have been told there are likely to be problems in getting the tablets for several weeks. The tablets I took for 5 months were called Xenical and then a version by a different manufacturer simply called Orlistat were given to me. Yesterday I was told neither product was available.

I heard someone say that apparently there is a problem with the production of one of the components they need to make the tablets this also happens to co-inside with the rumour that there would be an increased case of bowl cancer in mice when given this medicine. Having said that my friend has now bought Alli from an online retailer, which I assumed is the same product just a lower dosage Depending on how badly you want to take the tablets perhaps this may tie you over until the supply issue is resolved.
