Help ! How can I have put on 5lb overnight ?!!

Have been losing weight for the last 2.5mths, lost a stone just through not snacking and doing more exercise.
I normally weigh myself once a week but for some reason I did it yesterday and today. I always weigh myself first thing, and move the digital scales round a few times on the bathroom floor to see if there is a difference dep. on location.

So today weighed in a whole 5lbs heavier than yesterday, despite having a good day yesterday, eating well, going for a jog.

What sort of things could have made the weight increase so much ?!!! Can understand small fluctuations - but not this ! anyone had any experience of this ?

TIA

it's probably not real

a gain like that can't be! I lost 2kg in just under a week so that is real but had it been the other way, it could not would not be true!

Time of the month? I am heavier just before my period.

Catsmamma · 26/01/2012 09:52

Stop weighing!

if you must do it, do it much much less! I do have bathroom scales and can vary by 5lbs by moving the scales around the bathroom....I do it to prove how wrong they are :o and then go and try on my jeans of truth to double check.

Sounds like a scale issue, but you really mustn't weigh yourself more than once a week, tops, otherwise you're going to get anomalies like this that will leave you disheartened.

Are you near your TOTM? I always put on 2-3lbs overnight when AF is due.

Keep your scales in the same place, and only weigh once a week! Even then, take more notice of measurements/clothes/how you feel.

could you be dehydrated and it is water retention?

putyourhatonsweetie · 26/01/2012 10:24

oh and chin up you look slim to me Wink

ha ha, thanks all. Yes, silly for weighing too often - it was partly because i'd made it to the stone mark and wanted to confirm it !

I've just run two packs of my pill together - can you get extra water retention because of that ?

thanks putyour, you look good to me too Wink
