Weight Watchers or Slimming World

I am looking for some advice whether to join Weight Watchers or Slimming World.

I have been a member of Weight Watchers on and off for a couple of years and managed to lose/control my weight ok on their points plan but have got a bit bored by it last year. I didn't know if to give Slimming World a go for a bit of a change this year.

There is only me and DH to consider, we do like to eat out fairly regularly (weekly) and enjoy the odd glass bottle of wine. We sometimes have M&S ready meals in the week Blush so I am not sure if these will be easy to factor into SW plan. I also take packed lunch most days, salads or soups, I suppose these will be ok on either plan.

I have about a stone and half to lose, and would like to do this by Summer if possible.

Any thoughts??? Thanks in advance.

Hmmmm....it's a difficult one. I've struggled with the same decision.

I did the old WW points plan (Discovery-lost 6 stone) in 2004. The plan suited my lifestyle at the time which was mainly ready meal or takeaway food, not regularly going out but having a drink or ten of a weekend evening.
I did three months on the ProPoints plan last year and lost half a stone but was doing it online and found it difficult to get back into the swing of things.

I started Slimming World two weeks ago. I don't have heaps to lose (about a stone and a half that's crept on over the years). My lifesyle now is different, I like to eat proper fresh food of an evening and Extra Easy means I can do just that. I do lots free or very low syn slow cooker recipes that will feed DP and I for a couple of days or stir frys or veggie omelettes with SW chips and beans. It's very simple (once you get your head around it) and I've not been hungry once. I lost 4.5lbs last week and weigh in again tonight.

The only things I've found difficult with SW is eating on the go, i.e lunches at work or if we're out and about. A whole days syns can be wiped out with a supermarket sandwich. I guess I just need to get my head around that. Alcohol is also a bit of a pain but I've swapped wine for long G&Ts (slimline) or rum and diet coke. Suppose it's got to be better than eating sugarfree jelly all day then spending all my points on wine like on WW Blush.

Thank you for replying SheepAreSuper well done with the previous six stone weight loss.

4.5lbs in the first week with only a stone & half to lose is very good. How did you get on last night?

I found the ProPoints difficult to get my head around last year too, which is putting me off rejoining Weight Watchers.

I think I am going to give Slimming World a go. I have a slow cooker which I use regularly now, just need to plan a bit better stop being lazy. And if it does not work for me I can rejoin Weight Watchers as they always have offers in the Sunday newspapers.

The SW class is a Monday too which I think makes you a bit more motivated over the weekend rather than the WW class on a Thursday. I always convince myself I can catch up any weekend "mistakes" by the Thursday and of course never do.

Thanks for getting back to me, good luck with your weight loss.

No problem at all.

I was really pleaseed with the 4.5 loss. Sadly I put on 1lb on Tuesday which was really disheartening as I'd had a really good week again. However it is AF week and my consultant couldn't find anything wrong with my food diary so I'm attributing it to that and hope to pull it back (and more) next week.

I like having a Tuesday meeting as it does make me more concious of how I handle the weekends.

Good luck and I hope you enjoy it.
