Has anyone done Dukan diet?

I am planning on giving Dukan a go but I have just been to a health food shop and bought wheat bran (for the wierd sounding galette ) instead of oat bran.Does this matter? And have just tried to make one. it did not resemble a galette at all.Dispite wiping my non stick pan with "a few drops of oil" it stuck and was just a pile of goo on my plate.
Tips please!

Needs to be oat bran I think. Different grain. ASDA sells it.

Alouisee · 06/01/2012 18:41

I'm on day 4 - the galette is a tricky one. I prefer an egg scrambled followed by yogurt and oat bran for breakfast. Today is my first pv day and I'm so looking forward to asparagus with my dinner.

Good luck

GetOrfMoiiLand · 06/01/2012 18:43

Yesw, you need oat bran, not wheat. Sainsburys sell it, it is near the cereals in a round tub.

Mind you, I never bothered wih the galette, I just put a spoon or two in some yoghurt.

GetOrfMoiiLand · 06/01/2012 18:45

oat bran

It is a very good diet. After the pure protein days, you will never be so pleased to see a plate of cabbage. Grin

I just can't get my head round no fruit! And are you really eating loads of meat?
Tell me you have all lost weight!

Also, whilst trying to make (wrong) galette I ate two with total of 3tbsp wheat bran. Have just read packet and it says to not exceed 2tbsp a day! What will happen to me?Will I explode ?
Off to Sainburys tomorrow for oat bran.

MAke it with two eggs - tis the only way that it holds together.

Katisha · 06/01/2012 19:07

And drink lots of water.

WentworthMillerMad · 06/01/2012 19:08

Hi - yes I started Dukan at the end of October and am 2 stones lighter! And I cheat! Eg gin and slim on a sat night. have never made a galette and never will! Have the bran on Greek yog with vanilla flavour.
Walk much more, less cakes, less booze, yes more meat and fish and more veg.

WentworthMillerMad · 06/01/2012 19:08

And yes lots and lots of water

notyummy · 06/01/2012 20:00

Yes I too couldnt be bothered with galette. Had it in fat free fromage fraise with some sweetener. Yum. Or not....

Alouisee · 07/01/2012 12:21

Attempted the Galette this morning, it just won't stay pancake shaped, do I scrambled it in the pan and tipped it into a bowl, it was surprisingly cakey and warm, I might add some cinnamon next time and make a muffin type thing.

Katisha · 07/01/2012 15:14

Have just had one for lunch. I say again - make it with two eggs. Basically an omelette with bran in it. Put any cottage cheese or whatever on it after you have cooked it, then it will hold its shape and you can flip it over.

Alouisee · 07/01/2012 17:15

I'll try that tomorrow, looking at it as an omelette rather than a pancake puts a different slant on it. Thanks.

drywhiteplease · 07/01/2012 20:56

Am I wierd but I quite like it salty.will try cottage cheese.
Dh joining me on diet......but men loose weight quicker than women so I hope it does not piss me off!He read article in Times today about loosing weight and has become slightly preachy about it!I know what to do, it's just doing it that is the problem!
Going to stock up with meat, fish and all allowed protein tomorrow for kick off Mon.
alouiseehow is it going?

Well I've lost 7lbs in 5 days, I've been to a party tonight and didn't drink!!!!!!! Which is unheard of, I'm loving the discipline of this diet and I love that it works so well and so quickly.

For lunch I mixed some crab and prawns with egg white, Thai fish sauce and frozen Thai mix herbs and made a delicious crab cake, starving when I got in from the party after ignoring the buffet and have just devoured some mackerel pâté that I made earlier.

LaydeeC · 08/01/2012 11:53

I started this diet 6 days ago and have lost 71/2 pounds. I am a bit wary of 'diets' and have only needed to lose weight once in the past (post pregnancy) but used WW. According to my true weight, I have about 10 lbs to go. I absolutely hate the restrictiveness of Dukan (and never realised how much I hate that thin processed ham!) but I do like the clarity of what you are allowed to eat and what you are not. Unlike WW where you can eat what you want but have to point it - I was brilliant at this previously but just seem to lack the willpower now - that packet of crisps looks so tempting as does the crusty bread - you get the picture.
Good luck OP - the attack phase does seem to work. My email from Pierre told me to attack for two days but I did three and have since done two alternative p / pv days and weighed myself this am to find that I am down the weight as above. Strangely, I don't feel any different sizewise so am a bit flummoxed. Perhaps I should try on some of the clothes that were uncomfortable for a 'real' comparison.
Oh, and I went out for a meal last night - to a carvery where I had turkey and allowed vegetables (swede and cauliflower) but still had a night out! Would have been more difficult on a protein only day though!

Alouisee · 08/01/2012 12:14

I made a successful Gallette this morning thanks to the 2 egg recommendation and treat it like an omelette, thanks to Katisha.

I was a bit miffed to be up 1lb this morning and I'm wondering if it was the 2 diet cokes I had last night or the fact that I hadn't had a poo for three days Hmm Tmi.

Today is a pv day and I'll be scrutinising the scales tomorrow morning again. My stomach is definitely flatter and my clothes feel looser already. I actually feel like someone has stuck a pin in me and I've deflated a bit.

drywhiteplease · 08/01/2012 13:37

Ok ladies because of your success stories I have started a day early (why wait?) so it's day one of my attack phase and I too managed to make a galette with the 2 egg tip. I topped it with smoked salmon, fromage frais ,poached salmon and prawns....chopped chives and loads black pepper.delicious! Am going to roast lots of meats tonight so my fridge is full.
alouisee where did you get frozen Thai mix herbs?

OP posts:
Alouisee · 08/01/2012 14:39

Waitrose - they do all sorts of frozen herbs and the frozen shallots come in pretty handy too.
