I have eaten a lot over the last few days. I ate a huge bag of nuts which always makes me pput on weight so I don't why I did.

I can literally feel the increased fatness on my belly and my thighs.

I'm going out next Sunday with friends and I can't wear what I had in mind. It feels very, very tight, across the stomach especially.

I'm willing to do whatever gets the best results in a week.
Low carb? soup diet? salads and veg only? milkshakes? juice fast?

Whats the best for short term inch loss?

Eating just lean protein and low carb veg should help, as will upping your water intake and minimising sodium. You're probably just retaining a lot of water so all of these things should help.

I've been doing what Queen suggests since Saturday and have lost 4lbs, I also can feel my waist is more defined already.
It works.
You have to drink loads of water!

I agree with the others. Under no circumstances eat any bread, I think that is the worst thing for bloating. Let us know how you get on.

Fanty · 03/12/2011 23:31

Water fasting! Ive never made it past 36 hours though ...

Sparetyreisgettingbig · 04/12/2011 08:45

I'm starting today. The water fast sounds totally beyond me. I don't think I can go about my day to day business on just water.

I'm going for a run in a little while and my food is going to go like this until Saturday.

b/f omelette with mushrooms, spring onions, peppers
lunch salmon, tuna or mackeral with spinach leaves, cucumber, other salad
dinner chicken and steamed or stir fried veg like brocolli, brussel sprouts, courgette and carrots.

I'm happy to eat the same thing every day for a week but if anyone can give me some alternatives (no pork/bacon please) I'll be very grateful.
What are some good snacks? is yoghurt good? I'll need something mid afternoon.

I can do some exercise every day too.

surely a mullerlite yogurt wouldn't hurt, i admire your detemination x

Sparetyreisgettingbig · 07/12/2011 09:19

Going ok so far but I've had enough of eggs for breakfast so I'm having yoghurt and fruit.

I tried on my dress and it still looks a bit frumpy but definitely better. I need to lose 6 inches of belly by Sunday although I'll be happy with 2.

I'm going to up the sit ups to 100 and drink more water. I dont think I've been having enough.

Loads and loads and loads of water.

Google the carb content of your veg and structure what you eat according to that - some are quite high in carbs. Avoid fruit for that reason. Activia fat free yoghurts are the best - particularly the vanilla flavour as they are virtually carb free.

Sparetyreisgettingbig · 07/12/2011 09:35

Thanks Notyummy. I'm going shopping today so will get some.

How much water should I be drinking? I know Sunday is not far off but I'm still hoping to see some changes. Luckily, I lose weight quite easily when I put my mind to it. Its just keeping my mind to it thats the problem.

Well I generally do 4 pints a day on top of tea etc. If I am low carbing, which I do a couple of times a year if my weight has crept up, then I need to up that by at least 2 pints. I get a dry mouth otherwise. That is when I do 'hard core' low carbing for 2/3 days though (nothing but protein and low fat dairy....no veg etc. Boring but effective.)

lechatnoir · 07/12/2011 10:53

I was going to suggest Dukan's attack phase - pure protein & fat free dairy only (ie no veg, salad etc) and lots of water. It's not something you can sustain long term but I lost 5lb in the 6 days I did it and whilst a fair amount might be fluid, the difference in my stomach was amazing.

lechatnoir · 07/12/2011 10:57

eta I actually lost 8lb not 5 in my first 6 days on Dukan!!!

worldgonecrazy · 07/12/2011 10:59

If you get the shred or steal a few moves from YouTube, I lost two inches around my waist within a week (and no dieting). If you can't get the DVD in time, then just do two minutes of cardio vascular exercise (star jumps, jogging on the spot with your knees as high as you can get), followed by one minute of abs exercises, repeat several times and do it as often in a day as you can.

Alternatively just go and buy a pair of 'hold it all in' knickers from Debenhams.

ednurse · 07/12/2011 11:00

Second the Dukan attack.
