If you change your user name I'll respond properly, sorry its too offensive to take your post seriously.

I've done this so many times so you have my sympathy. I'm trying -again - to lose weight and I'm following the low GL diet which, so far, works well for me. You need to eat protein with each meal, and a much smaller amount of carbs, as well as good fat in order to balance your blood sugar and cut the cravings. (You are also allowed 2 snacks a day with some protein.) I've found it great and I genuinely feel less compelled to eat, which is amazing for a carb obsessed glutton like me. Good luck.

yes i know protein and less carbs is the answer. but it is hard to get back on track. i was mainlining bread adn nutella yesterday which is always a sign that i have hit rock bottom!
i know if i can just get through a fews days without rampaging i will be ok again.

thanks for sympathy marian and good luck

when ever i get 'the muchies' as they are affecinatly known i try to eat fruit or veg and cut it up into little bits so it feels like i'm eating more, like i'll cut 2 carrots into sticks, or celery sticks, apple cut into slices, things like that, you can eat an awful lot of fruit and veg and not put on any weight with it :)

BelovedCunt · 17/05/2011 12:42

oh yes i need to stock up on carrots

any maybe if you want to be a little bit naughty with your carrot sticks you can cut a tiny piece of cheese up into chunks and have that too, everything cut up makes it seem like more.

Ooooh I feel your pain. I have lost now and am terrified of going off the rails again.

This won't work for everyone, but I find visualisations very helpful.
I have a nice meal and enjoy it. But when I want to eat compulsively (when I'm not hungry) I imagine a big metal box with a lock around the food I'm going for. It sound ridiculous, but I have to imagine myself opening the box with a lock, and it just makes me stop and think before I eat.

BelleEnd · 17/05/2011 12:48

Also, are you on a healthy eating thread here? I am on the low carb one and list everything I've eaten at the end of the day. It's surprising what a difference that has made to me.

LooloosMummy · 17/05/2011 12:49

well done on your inital 16lbs loss, its amazing how much diffence it make losing a stone! i lost a stone and a half then put on the half, but all my clothes fit so much better than they have for a long time, theres lots of bits in my wardrobe i haven't worn for 2 years its like going shopping without the expense :O

I think what you need to do is go back to basics with whatever plan/diet you were on. Take it day by day (forget about any long term goals/worries) and focus on being healthy and eating healthy food for that morning, then that afternoon, then getting through til bedtime. If you can get back to basics and stick to it for a few days/a week then you will get back on track for the long term.

That's what's currently working for me anyway - 11lbs since 4 April and I'm eating well and still having things I like (ww online, works for me but not everyone's cup of tea)

Oh x posts re ww online!
