I have 6 stone + to lose and keep considering LighterLife...tell me the good/bad things about it. What does it cost? How does it fit into normal family life? How fast does weight come off? Does it stay off?

Please Grin

Whatever diet you do, whether its lighterlife, WW or otherwise, the weight will not stay off unless you work hard at maintaining it afterwards. If you go back to old WOE it will come back on.

I agree that a rapid start to the diet can help with motivation and exercise though.

I lost 3 stone in 5 months (low fat, low carbs, low calorie) and have done loads of exercise and skin is looking v good. Lost 2lbs a week - can see that it would take a long time to loose 6 stone though.

Hi Northern. I lost over 5 stone on Lighter Life and have been maintaining very successfully so far (four months). It is one of the best things I've ever done - but I was definitely in the right frame of mind first. It can work if you do the exercises and go to the groups and try to work out why you got big in the first place and create your own strategies to prevent it happening again. The maintenance programme is brilliant - free for life!! (am a bit biased, sorry, but it's changed my life!)

P.S. No hair loss but a bit of a crinkly tummy - but then I have major stretch marks after my two DDs so I was never going to wear a bikini anyway. Pics on profile so judge for yourself (clothed, I hasten to add!!).

Verso, your pics are truly inspirational. I would sign up immediately if I had the money!

Can I just pop on and say all the best to you Northern?

Also Verso well done. You look amazing. I also totally agree with you that you/we/whoever need to work why we got fat in the first place.

I think we need to work out how to lose weight safely and then stop the weight going on again.

Northern I do wish you all the best. I have no experience of lighter life personally but one friend lost lots with it and then put it all back on, and then some, and got some health issues due to too rapid weight loss. I heard of another who put it all back on and then some too but it is a friend of a friend so not met them. But I must admit have also heard of people who lose and put it all back on and then some with all kinds of diets.

So I totally feel that it is about working out what lies under the eating and changing attitudes/habits and eating habits to healthy eating and lifestyle long term. I am still trying to work it all out myself but feel much more positive now I know why I over eat!

I will try and pop in again to see how you are doing and I really do wish you the very best.

I have not done it but I have 2 close friends which where very successful in achieving huge weigh loss and different results;

Girl: Lost 9 stone and totally changed her. Life from being shy and uncomfortable in crowds to very happy, in a great relationship and now expecting a baby maintaining her weight loss with the maintenance support programme. Her hair did fall out and she did have to pay for a GP to have regular check ups.

Guy: Lost 14 stone, totally took over his life, totally obsessed with everything food related and I think it messed with his head a bit as didn't know when to stop until GP told him he was under weight and health at risk from his diet. He had problems with his teeth and nails where dreadful. Now 18 months down the line he has put back on 4 stone and doing a lot better and doing lighter life lite with more success and happier.

Not sure if that's the info you wanted really but hope something will be useful.
