hi all,
i would really like to loose a bit of weight before the summer (and a family wedding),i have no will power at all,i want to get a good bit fitter too (am SO unfit atm)

i've ordered an excercise bike to ease me into it(i have asthma and the cold outside makes it much worse) plan is to use this each day,
i also have a stepper which i plan to use daily too.

i just wondered how successful anyone has been with the shakes??
should i make a dinner at night?
or should i buy a ready meal( will it help my lack of willpower if i stick to a set meal plan)

any opinions welcome :)

I never got on with the excercise bike thing- it works better for me to go out and do it. I joined Ladyzone, which is a 30min workout, 3 x a week (I aim for). I do know someone who made a deal with herself that she could watch soaps, but only if she was on the excercise bike! It worked for her, she was more disciplined than me. Shakes are ok as a quick boost thing I think, but IMO you need one calorie counted meal a day, but on the Slim-fast website, there are lots of suggestions for these. I never carried on with the shakes long enough to really make a difference (have got some in the cupboard still) but no reason why they shouldn't work...nowt to stop you giving it a go. You can also supplement these with bars, etc.

thanks for the reply,
tbh im so unfit that if i go outside on my bike (big hill in either direction) id be lucky to make it 5 mins along the road!
my plan it to do the soaps thing with the bike lol!!!lo naps in the afternoon so am thinking i will get back to home and away lol!!

im not sure how disciplined i will be with calorie counting a home made meal, thats why i was thinking to do ready meals for a little while, maybe just some nights, and make meals the rest.

thanks x

Good luck! Post how you're getting on maybe.

also you should try a dvd called 30 day shred - we have a couple of threads on here. that'll really help too on the exercise front x

I'm on the shakes. I'm on the Herbalife plan, but I do 7 hours of cardio a week too..so I'm not sure what is helping the shift my unwanted mummy tummy....!

The shakes stop me from eating in the day, then about 5pm I have a small meal..I don't calorie count I do this;

1/2 plate vegetables

3/5 protein (meat)

2/5 carbs (potatoes/rice/pasta)

Start with the meat and veg and you'll hardly touch the carbs, and what you do eat, considering you are exercising, will burn off to nothing.
