losing weight without going to a class?

Do you have the motivation to do your diet without going to a class?
I got to target weight at Slimming World.
I stopped going as it was a hassle with the baby.
He'd be even worse now as he's a proper toddler.
So I am going to try & do it at home.
I "started" the other day but I don't have the same motivation.
It just seems so expensive to go to class, pay for car parking etc when I can do it for free at home. Plus I wouldn't be able to stay to class. The baby would cause mayhem. It wouldn't be fair on anyone else. So where is my bloody motivation?!
Who's succeeded at home, on whatever diet you've decided to follow?

I lost 21 lb doing a diet at home, but did it online with a forum and help off there. I now go to a slimming world group with my mum and have no intention of stopping now I'm pregnant. As well as not wanting to get out of the slimming world habbit which I bet can easily happen I still want to go support my mum and all the other girls there.

I agree with you when you do it yourself at home the motivation is not the same as going to group. But there are some free online site that I believe my friend has used and are good... I will have a word with her and let you know what she thinks is the best.

Good luck chick xx

I have. I know how WW works from past experience. I'd never really give it a good go before but did it on my own from Sep 2006 - Apr 2007, the motivation being that I wanted to lose weight to prove chances of success with IVF (I have PCOS). IVF didn't work but my cycle kicked in afterwards as a result of improved fitness and I got pregnant Smile

I decided to get stuck into losing my baby weight when DD was 6 months old and it took me just over 3 months to lose about 18lbs. I want to lose a bit more now - I'm a generous 12 and want to be a 10. I've bought all the new WW books and a couple of exercise DVDs and am going for it. I love feeling healthier and am proud of what I can achieve on my own.

Bloody hell well done TartyMcFarty thats brilliant!!

I have PCOS but thankfully despite being told at 16 I would need IVF to have kids I have fallen pregnant on my own everytime. I think the weightloss from slimming world has helped this time because I did start having regular periods after the first 1.5st loss.

LittleBeaut · 10/01/2011 09:07

And GandTandaslice... that £50 will eventually be the best £50 you have ever spent when you feeling on top of the world with your new figure and new clothes you know??

I need the group motivation too to help me!

TartyMcFarty · 10/01/2011 09:51

Thanks Smile

And good luck GandT - didn't read the thread properly!

I struggle to do it on my own but we have just started our own sort of "diet club" with some local "mum" friends. We weigh in once a week and have plotted our weight loss on a graph. When we meet for the weigh in, we normally do some wii fit stuff as well. Its a bit chaotic (there are 4 of us and 4 dc's), but its quite good fun and provides us with motivation. The actual diet we follow is just based on ww points (which I've done previously and lost 2 stone)

glovesoflove · 10/01/2011 10:04

I've signed up to a sponsored slim Blush. I am still breastfeeding and finding it REALLY tough to lose the stone I have put on with pg/bf. I'm hoping the shame of not raising the money is going to keep me going, and also it's really public with web page for sponsors etc. Could be worth a try? I saw an ad from the hospice to do it, but when you go on to the sponsor sites you can choose from loads of different charities. I'm thinking I might do a "physical challenge" for another charity when I've lost this weight...

LittleBeaut · 10/01/2011 11:01

Thats a good idea glovesoflove... that is motivation for you. And you doing good for charity too - good luck!!

Tillyscountsmum me and my 'facebook' friends did something similar before Christmas (and before I found out I was pregnant) we did a Gok Wan style bauble challenge. There was 5 or 6 of us and each Friday we weighed in (and took a picture of the scales) posted it on a secret facebook page we started up and one kept a track on all the figures. Who ever had lost the least amount of weight on the last weigh in (which was Christmas Eve) had to do the bauble challenge which was the do a Gok Wan style photo shoot with baubles and tinsel etc. Was a right laugh and wish I had been able to see it through to the end Grin

GandTiceandaslice · 10/01/2011 13:23

I started & paid £49.50 for 12 weeks so there's no going back now!
