well, i've followed it to the letter for a week and I've only lost 4lbs, so I'm a bit disapointed.

One this that has allowed me to stay on this diet is that my meals have been satisfying so I have managed to resist wine & carby snacks.

I had actually lost 4lbs 3 or 4 days agao and the scales have not budged despite the fact that I've been out walking and drinking lots of water etc I have some ketostix and they are definately going pink, so I dont think I am having too many carbs

Has anyone else had any sucess, do I keep going or give up now?

Have you read the book?
A 4 pound loss over a week isn't 'only' 4 pounds, it's bloody fantastic. If that makes you want to give up, you need to read what they write about self sabotage. As nice as it would be, you're not going to lose a stone overnight, and the 'sod it then I'll get back on the cake' is the very thing that's keeping you overweight.

Yes, i read the book and I think thats kept me going for a week. Its just that I hear that many people lose a lot more in the first week and that its water and the loss slows down after that, so just a bit disapointed. Thanks - I will re read that bit. Have you done the diet?

How much do you have to lose? This will definitely affect how much you lose in the first week.

And, the IPD is - IMO - a bit vague about how many carbs - it's worth reading some of the other books about low carbing to give you a better idea of carb counts. Have a look at Charles Clarke's book "The High Protein Diet" or Dr Atkins "The New Diet Revolution" (I think that's what it's called!)

But as BBG says, 4lbs is a really good loss in a week.

Have you visited the IPD website/forum? That might also help keep you going - it's here

1.5-2 stones to lose and I have done low carb before, so I have a copy of Atkins. Will dust off and have a read. thanks for the encouragement :)

You may need to be a bit stricter with yourself - I certainly find some of the portion sizes in the IPD recipe book to be huge! And I remember that one of the first meals in the initial phase 1 was bacon and eggs with four rashers of bacon which, IMHO, is too much.
