August Challenge?

Anyone want to join me in eating healthily and exercising 3 times a week for a good weight loss in August?

My eating plan is to eat 3 decent meals a day with no snacking except fruit. I'm hoping to lose 7lbs by the end of August.

Oooooh potty training. I remember those days. 2 steps forward, 1 step back and poo on the lawn ... oh yes, he did (DS that is Grin) - only once but nontheless Blush

Anyway, glad your hip is better. You might have done a bit more than your body was inclined to give you, on your run out with the club? Icing it is good to take down inflammation.

Keep strong today. You are going far too brilliantly to let it get away from you. Smile

Shaxx · 26/08/2010 14:48

I've succumbed to a 2 finger kit kat with my coffee just now! Oh dear but its only 107cals. I'm not going to feel too bad about it.
Have been good otherwise.

Bleurgh to pooh on the lawn. We've had success with pooh in the toilet (hooray!) but weeing hasn't clicked yet. Endless mopping, bathing and laundry. Joy!

It happened the first time we took his nappy off him to let him toddle about. He went outside and the next thing we saw was him squatting on the lawn Blush. He never did it again and, tbh, he got the idea of the potty and toilet quite quickly...it was a bit funny though...just amazing how quickly children go feral Grin Grin Grin.

Glad it's was only a two finger kitkat. Smile. It doesn't do any harm to have a bit now and again. I know me though, and have to be on total clampdown. Perhaps one day I will be responsible but at the mo it is easier to just avoid entirely.

Am off to Chessington tomorrow (promised said lawn-fertilizing DS, now 10) a trip before he goes back to school. Will be packing lunch as all they sell is crap at these places. Won't be doing the power walk tomorrow morning though as I will probably cover a few miles going from ride to ride Confused

Potty training not going well!! Argh!

Diet has been ok. I didn't manage to get to the gym yesterday as dh got back late. I did a really thorough clean of downstairs though. I just thought it felt a bit scummy with all that weeing going on during the day. It wasn't but I'm just one of those people who finds the whole thing a bit icky.

Hopefully, I'll get to the gym tonight then its book club night so will try to be good!

I hope you enjoyed chessington Smile

Hi Shaxx, morning! Hope you got the gym last night and that book club was good?

Chessington was fab - my DS loved it. I am pretty good on most of the rides but insist that my DH goes on with DS if I wimp out - hahaha - Grin

The choice of food there was vile though. Had some noodles and walked like a loon. DH and DS wanted fish and chips on way home so I picked a few chips and a weeny bit of fish - made me feel sick though so won't be doing that again.

Did long walk this morning Smile. Friend didn't turn up so she either forgot Hmm or slept in. Did my exercise though so am fixed for the day.

I hope potty training goes better today. I do remember it being stressful in the beginning but I think I read, at the time, to be careful about showing that stress to the DC because it would make them associated stress/anger/annoyance with going to the toilet! Try and grin and bear it and your DC will get it soon.

Onwards and upwards!! Grin

Hi!
Book club was good. It was less of a book club, more of a chat and have a take away club! Oh well. Smile

Glad Chessington was fun. The food is always vile at these places. Its always better to take your own but its such a pain carrying it around.

Potty training is getting better, I think. Poor ds needed to go for a no.2 yesterday eve and had been trying his best to put it off so he had a very restless and uncomfortable night. I was up with him so am a bit tired today. (Thankfully, he's sorted it out now Grin)

Still no darned exercise yet! Its a mixture of stuff getting in the way and a bit of laziness! I am def going for a run tomorrow morning though. I usually meet a friend so have to go!
Well done on keeping up with yours.

Have a good day.Smile

Hey S, how has today gone?

How's DS getting on with the potty?

Today has been good for me ...no exercise but have controlled the food. Meeting my friend tomorrow morning for a power walk thoughSmile

I also checked out the gym at the pool where my DS does squad training for swimming and diving. I can go and pay just for the time I use it ... good news as I can then get some weight training in whilst DS does his training {grin] yippee.

Let's have a good week?

LemonDifficult · 30/08/2010 20:20

Hello T & S - Good work with the exercise push and 3kg in 2weeks is brilliant!

Dropped off the radar as I've had friends to stay for the last 5 days and put 4lbs on. I'm going to assume that some - OK, maybe all - of this is due to alcohol consumption so hopefully some will come off again this week.

On the plus side, I went out shopping and am sitting typing this in jeans four inches smaller than the size I needed 13 weeks ago. So that's good Grin

TitsalinaBumSquash · 30/08/2010 21:44

I will join this.
I find it really hard to loose weight as i find it hard to eat enough calories to stop 'starvation mode' but i shall join you. Until the kids go back to school i will be using workout DVDs, a selection that i have, when they are back i will slot in a Gym session once or twice a week.

I love the doing it month by month way it seems more manageable.

TitsalinaBumSquash · 30/08/2010 21:46

Sorry just realised its nearly September... are you going to start a new September thread?

LemonDifficult · 30/08/2010 21:56

Hi TBS, I think we should definitely have a September thread.

I've found doing it monthly suits me well. It does break it down so it seems more manageble than a big goal but at the same time the amount you can shed in a month can be quite sizeable and rewarding.

How much do you want to lose?

TitsalinaBumSquash · 30/08/2010 21:58

about 2 1/2 stone Blush

Shaxx · 31/08/2010 09:00

Hi all Smile

Lets start a September thread. I think September will be easier than August!

We've nearly got the potty training sorted. I'm hoping it won't take more than a couple of days now. I think ds needs to just get a bit more confident.

I went for a run yesterday morning but my diet wasn't great!
We spent ages out and didn't take much food with me so I ended up eating cake with tea. Dh decided to cook yesterday evening for me and him. By the time he finished, it was nearly 9 and I was starving so ended up eating lots.

I'm going running again this evening and WILL stick to my healthy eating regime.

Hi All, Hi Titsalina and Lemon.

So, it's 1st September and we are now on the September Challenge, thanks Lemon - I was pleasantly surprised with 3kg - makes the effort worth it.

Yesterday was a bit hit and miss for me too. Got my walk in but the food went (only) slightly haywire in the evening - just portion was too big rather than anything dreadful. Did have a scoop of ice cream though Hmm

So, back on the straight and narrow today. Walk tomorrow morning. Once DS back at school I can find a good hour in the morning to get a long walk in.

Glad the potty training is going well Shaxx.

Shaxx · 31/08/2010 17:18

Sounds good Timba. It was a bank holiday and I'm sure all that walking will have helped anyway! You need to enjoy treats every now and then.

Thatsnotmyfruitshoot has started a September challenge thread here so I've just jumped on that rather than starting another one.

See you there?

Today so far so good.

I've stuck rigidly to a diet plan so far!
We've spent the afternoon in the park. The boys had their bikes and I just walked along side them (its so cute seeing a 2 yr old on a 'proper' but little bike Grin)

I'm going to have an early dinner then go running at 7pm
