Cheers for the new 🧵

This is such a useful and supportive community. I like being in this gang!
I'm 2 stone down since September and I'm planning to give myself longer between doses over Christmas week and then crack on with the next 2 stone in the new year.

MissBPotter · 17/12/2024 20:15

Thanks for new thread.

been reading about set points on here. I seem to be at one right now. Hoping that I get a loss this week as last week was zero and haven’t seen any movement this week either so far. Not sure why but thinking it could be partly stress at work and because of being away from home at the moment. I have also been doing less exercise as I’m not at home, so that’s probably contributing. Making myself go for a walk in lunch breaks is about it at the moment!

Orangesandlemons77 · 17/12/2024 21:30

It's been so grey out it doesn't make me want to go for a walk, that is my excuse anyway.

Sampler · 17/12/2024 22:07

I was in the gym earlier and saw myself in a full length mirror for the entire class (I used to avoid looking) and I really saw I’d lost weight for the first time, it was so weird ! Having been fat for about 7 years I had forgotten what me being slimmer looked like. I haven’t quite adjusted yet to the new me. Dear god, I’m going to have to buy new clothes 😮

EBoo80 · 17/12/2024 22:34

My phone has made a review of photos of the year, except it doesn’t recognise my face from October onwards 😆

Reporting in and place marking

sylv165 · 18/12/2024 07:39

Oh wow @EBoo80 that is quite the NSV - outwitting technology!!

SpottyBumPony · 18/12/2024 08:34

I sent my friend a gym picture and she made it in to a before and after. The picture on the left was from my work sportsday in the summer.

Weird changes are that I feel narrower in the shoulders and I've had to raise my chair to be comfortable at my desk.

sylv165 · 18/12/2024 09:21

@SpottyBumPony that is amazing, I can see a huge difference!

EBoo80 · 18/12/2024 12:03

Amazing @SpottyBumPony ! Like you I feel narrower in the shoulders. I think I had bulk at the back of my neck and shoulders and it made me just a bit hunched.

After lengthy plateau I have an unexpected midweek loss today. Am now 4lbs off a healthy BMI, which I had initially assumed was an unattainable goal (I’m already 5lbs below my initial goal, which also seemed unattainable). Lots of mixed feelings, including worries about maintenance. I should try to feel proud of it.

Congratulations, you look like a different person. You should be proud!

MissBPotter · 18/12/2024 13:48

wow @SpottyBumPony thats amazing. Big difference!

after saying I was at a set point I am probably not (luckily) as I lost half a kilo overnight (apparently!) so just over 1.5 lbs for the week. I’m really close to a healthy bmi now.

Bumblebeehum · 18/12/2024 15:16

Congratulations @SpottyBumPony you look entirely different!
My wake up call in September was when I went to the theatre and couldn't escape the people either side of me with my arms/shoulders, feel so much better now!

20bloodypounds · 18/12/2024 18:40

@EatingTillIDie Thanks for making the new thread.

@SpottyBumPony I can notice your wrists are thinner, your chin is looking good.... If you've raised your chair maybe it's because you're less hunched over. It's all fantastic progress. Well done.

@EBoo80 Despite side effects and challenges along the way, MJ is an amazing lifechanger. I've struggled this week with nausea but without MJ I'd never have lost that 24 pounds. I'm looking at 13 pounds to go, maybe a few more for a buffer.

RE set points: My background was in science and biochemistry (and I love all the biochemistry around the positive effects of MJ on our bodies - for heart, liver, blood pressure etc.) But I've never really found anything that really convinced me about 'set point'. Our bodies are really complex enviornments and systems and there are so many variables that influence why weight loss stalls one week (or for several) and drops another. I kind of choose not to believe in it, because then I can fool myself into thinking it doesn't matter what I do, or what I eat, and I think it does. I cetainly know that over decades, when my body has been in an upward trajectory it hasn't recognised set points, just whooshed on upwards to another new high. So when my weight loss stalls I try and recognise what I'm doing - drinking less water, or moving less, or too many ocassional lattes... I can usually find something I'm doing I just sometimes prefer to ignore it Grin

I do think that our bodies need to adjust as we go along, and we should embreace that process and welcome it as being healthy.

Hi everyone,

Reporting onto the thread.

@SpottyBumPony I love your pink leggings :) you look fab.

Am excited to hear about people's intermediate clothes shopping strategies. Has anyone treated themselves to anything fab? I've bought a gorgeous cardigan from Mint Velvet in a small (!) - it was quite oversized and I'm pear shaped anyway so smaller on top but still, it was a surprise as I naturally reached for the L then the M. However, almost all of my old clothes are now the right size (they were getting VERY tight) so no real excuse to shop!

I've upped my dose to 2.5mg after a 3 week stall and it's kicked started a small loss - half a kilo, which means that's I've officially lost 10_% of my body weight, which was one of my goals. Still quite a way to get to a healthy BMI but it's getting closer. I'm going to continue as normal over Christmas but I recognise that so much food is tied in with celebration and family and comfort and emotion around Christmas that I'm still likely to overeat. That said, not gaining over the festive period would be remarkable in and of itself! At least for me based on previous years. Hope everyone has a great break.

Doggymummar · 18/12/2024 22:36

This time last year I was size 20. Tomorrow I have as ize 14 pjs arriving from Asda. Admittedly the reviews said coms up big. But itust have been 20 years since anything that small fitted me.

MandarinDentistTiger · 18/12/2024 23:13

I bought myself a sparkly top from H&M, a large but from the normal range.

I've just taken 5mg and have ordered a 7.5mg for next week. I will give a higher dose a go.

My pen just broke, I could not move the plunger all of the way down. I had needles so used one of them.

MandarinDentistTiger · 18/12/2024 23:14

@Doggymummar well done, I hope your new size 14 pjs feel amazing.

doodleschnoodle · 19/12/2024 03:50

I'm currently in A&E after waking up with severe stomach pains Sad They think it might be gallstones but are checking for pancreatitis. I know rapid weight loss can cause the gallstones and not necessarily the jab, but wondering if I'll have to stop MJ after this Sad
