I haven’t had a price increase notification yet, but I’m sure it’s coming. I’m not sure what to do. I’m about 2stone from goal and was hoping to taper off too. Not sure that’s possible now, I’m going to have to white knuckle it for the rest of the weight loss and hope I can do maintenance ok.

sylv165 · 15/08/2025 12:00

I’ve not had a notification from my supplier yet, but am waiting on it coming. I’m lucky in that I have stayed at the smaller doses and have been thinking about going back down to 2.5mg now I’m more or less at goal. But there is no way I could absorb some of the proposed price increases at higher doses. I really feel for people who are part way towards their goal, or hoping to stay on it for a long period of time who will now have the rug pulled out from under them. Here’s hoping the impact won’t be as significant as the initial figures suggest

doodleschnoodle · 15/08/2025 12:03

Ugh this is awful! DH is still on MJ and dreading the price increases. I’ve been off for a while but always had the peace of mind I could go back on if I needed. That is less certain now due to the hugely inflated costs.

How is it going being off? Maybe you won't need to if it's going ok

Orangesandlemons77 · 15/08/2025 12:40

I'm nearly at goal and been working my way down the doses and seem to be managing OK on 5mg (still losing but a bit slower which is fine)

I'm considering taking 5mg 5 weeks on / 3 weeks off for maintenance (staying on MJ) I have seen someone else doing this over on the reddit maintenance sub and it seemed to be going OK. they did more sport and exercise and ate a bit more on the weeks off I think. But overall it seemed to go ok.

Would then reduce the price as would only need to buy one 5mg every 8 weeks but would need a pharmacy that would let you do it. I think it was Cloud the person was with. I don't think they are the cheapest of pharmacies. Also might consider Pharmulous for something like this in case they might offer it too, but again not the cheapest.

I have a lot of referral credit saved with Voy but their prices can be quite high and it might not save me much in comparison, also being on it a year don't really need to extra suppose etc as much as might have done earlier on. I suppose another option might be to see if they would let me use that credit on wegovy, if I swapped to that. they are very busy at the moment but might ask them when things have calmed down.

It’s been okay but I’ve added a heck of a lot of exercise to give me a bit more freedom with calories as despite the whole process I am still partial to some cake and pastries! But working out every day lets me have some spare calories I can dedicate to the cause. Otherwise I’m generally sticking to 1700 calories and staying stable between 125-128lbs on average. I was 135 when I started coming off MJ so I have lost a bit extra.

I don’t think I do need it again but knowing the option was always there if I needed it made a big mental difference I think so I will have to adjust mindset a bit perhaps!

Oushk allow month on month off at 2.5 and 5 too. Hira mentioned it in our maintenance call.

Ah that's interesting! Glad for you it is going well even though it is a change and adjustment.

I was thinking if I do come off maybe I could use that money to upgrade to a nice gym with a pool rather than the council sports centre which is a bit chlorine and screaming children-y! Maybe that might entice me to go a bit more, especially in the winter. Could be a plan perhaps It's about £65 a month I think.

Oh, that's good to know, I get the feeling they will be pretty busy though I might try somewhere else, I am not an existing customer either and hear they have quite long waiting times for things like video consultations. Maybe I can convince VOY but it probably won't fit in with their monthly sub model. It would be nice to use up my referral credit though. I'll see.

Orangesandlemons77 · 15/08/2025 14:26

Managed to get on an online chat with Voy, they said my order before the 15th Sep would be the same price and can use my discount there, also would be able to use my referral credit if I do transfer to wegovy, so that is an option I suppose.

sylv165 · 15/08/2025 15:22

@Orangesandlemons77Im with Oushk and you can get a free consultation within a day or so. However, there is a much longer wait time for a maintenance appointment (which you pay £5 for). I was looking to book one yesterday and the dates are well into October.

A month on/month off does sound quite appealing. It might give a good balance of getting used to going it alone without coming off completely for a while. And keeping the cost lower

Plus it would only be 3 weeks off really using the extra dose which might make it easier.

So 1 year anniversary of Mounjaro is here or approaching for us Sep 2024 starters. How’s everyone doing?

I am transformed. Hit my “ideal weight ultimate goal” this week which when I set it was an impossible target just to give me a point on a graph to aim for, I never thought I’d actually get here.

Starting Weight - 218 lb (15 st 8lb)
Current Weight - 140 lb (10 stone)

Starting size - 20/22
Current size - 10/12

Lost - 78 lb, 5st 7lb, 35% bodyweight

Diabetes is in remission, I can jog 5k, I can spend 45 minutes in the gym without dropping dead, I can fit in airplane seats without extenders or spilling onto the person next to me, I weigh less than I did when I was in primary school.

It’s a whole new world. Have a BIG important work trip in October that I previously would have dreaded but I’m currently scouring sale sites and shops looking for a pencil skirt or pair of fabulous stylish trousers to pair with a jewel toned emerald blouse I’ve found and I think I’m going to look amazing. At the very least I’m going to shock the people who last saw me a few years ago when I was closer to 20 stone and wearing size 26.

sylv165 · 02/09/2025 08:31

Amazing @InfoSecInTheCity 10 dress sizes down in a year is incredible! You must feel like a different person.

I can't believe that this time last year I was so overweight, and just getting bigger and bigger. I was so demoralised and having tried so many failed diets I just couldn't see a way out. Now I am (still 😂) 1lb away from my goal weight and feeling great. Like you, my fitness has been completely transformed. I'm going on holiday with friends later this month. Last year I would have been one of the most overweight in the group and would have felt incredibly self-conscious, this year I will be one of the slimmest and will be wearing my bikini with pride!

Bumblebeehum · 02/09/2025 11:38

Loving those numbers @InfoSecInTheCity

my anniversary is next week so I’ll do a full report then, it’s all good though I’m still working at it (20lbs to go as it stands). Still trying to resist lots of clothes shopping, and enjoying the baggy look!

HippoPortlyMouse · 02/09/2025 15:12

Happy Mounjaro-versary to me, and to all of us September starters!

I haven't posted in ages but realising it's been a year (a whole year!) got me reminiscing. Lovely to see @InfoSecInTheCity's update too - we've followed similar paths.

I started at 15 stone, BMI 35, size 18. At 5'5" and approaching menopause it definitely felt insurmountable.

I'm now 9st 7lbs, BMI 22, size 10. I lost 77lbs or 36% of my starting weight.

10st was my initial goal and I hit that a few months ago. I sort of naturally plateaued then anyway for a few months and kept at the MJ dose I was on. Then decided I'd like to shift another half stone and upped my dose a little and refocused on a good diet. Half a stone gone - and now I need to focus on maintaining for life.

I've never been a healthy weight other than some time as a child, so it's very strange. Also coming to terms with my saggy, wrinkled body. Funnily enough, losing weight does not suddenly turn on the fountain of youth! I never liked my pear shape, so always dressed to hide it and that hasn't changed. I liked my boobs though, and they have vanished! But I am healthier now and am setting myself up for a much healthier older age, which was the goal.

I think I first came across WLIs on the boards here and will always be grateful to the pioneers who posted about their experiences and made me think 'oh - could that work for me?' Thank you, early 2024 starters.

Would love to hear how everyone else is doing. Smile

Lazygardener · 02/09/2025 15:27

I started on MJ a year ago. SW 14 stones 12 lbs, CW 10 stones 11 pounds, so a 4 stone loss. I am on 7.5 mg and don’t intend to go any higher. I want to lose another stone, then maintain at a lower dose, so the price rise was not welcome news! I will probably switch to Wegovy. So good to hear these success stories!

Orangesandlemons77 · 02/09/2025 16:08

A year ago I was 100kg (around 16 stone) I'm now 70kg (around 11 stone) so have lost around 5 stone. I'm quite short as well (5ft 2).

I'm in a quandary about staying on Mj with the price rises (had hoped to stay on a low dose for maintenance) or perhaps try wegovy. I think I will stay with MJ for now and going to use the higher dose pens to take 5mg from (I know this is not supposed to be done really but it will save me a lot)

I have liked MJ and found little side effects, feel a bit unsure of wegovy and the unknown

Wishing everyone all the best going forward, enjoying reading your stories.

EBoo80 · 02/09/2025 17:01

what an amazing year for us all. Imagine how we would have felt if you had told us these stats a year ago!
so I’ve dropped from 14 stone 4 to 10 stone 13 (a weight I haven’t been since I was about 14) and have been maintaining off MJ (going up and down about 5lbs but always in a healthy BMI) since end June.
The dopamine hit of losing is hard to manage without, but I’ve focused a lot on health, which was always the goal, and building muscle especially.
I have much more confidence, and am trying things I would never have done before. I also miss my boobs and also my bum, but am pleased with how my arms and legs have toned up. My stomach is now wrinkly and saggy, which is a bit sad, but easier to hide that than the apple shape I was before.

doodleschnoodle · 02/09/2025 17:39

I love reading all this! Truly amazing what we’ve all accomplished.

I started at around 34 BMI, 203lbs. I came off MJ in April at 135lbs. I’ve now stabilised at 130lbs, 22BMI. I’m now on the fitness journey, building muscle and cardio strength, and really enjoying it. I would never have done any of it without MJ. It truly was a wonder drug for me, and even worth the gallstones (which have seemingly gone dormant again while I await surgery!). I look and feel fantastic. The only bad news is that I now spend a fortune on clothes and self care as I like the way I look!

20bloodypounds · 02/09/2025 17:50

A year on and my BMI is 22.7 This time last year I couldn't have imagined that!

I'm down to 2.5mg, and will drop to one month on and one month off.

InfoSecInTheCity · 02/09/2025 17:59

A very wonderful set of updates after a day of bull-crap at work! We have All done brilliantly and what strikes me is the fact that I’ve been on weight loss boards in years gone by on Mumsnet and while everyone would try really hard, there were not many examples of people successfully losing lots of weight and being able to stick to the calorie deficit for months and months on end. Whereas with MJ we’ve had half a dozen people from this group pop in today and report amazing loses and complete physical transformations.

Orangesandlemons77 · 02/09/2025 18:34

I'm finding it really positive hearing about people who have come off and maintained getting into fitness and considering things like one month off/on. Well done

OvaHere · 02/09/2025 18:56

Haven't posted for ages but I came off it around Feb/March time. I'm maintaining at around 9.5 stone with a few pounds fluctuation depending on time of the month. I was about 15.6 when I began. I do exercise at least twice a week and I'm just generally a lot more active now I'm not carrying all the extra weight.

I'm eating fairly normally now but being on MJ has got me out of some really bad habits so I eat meals but I don't go overboard with massive portions nor do I sit and eat a whole packet of biscuits. Instead I might occasionally have a sweet treat but it's not an everyday or even weekly occurrence.

I'm trying not to be complacent and still weigh regularly to keep check but overall coming off has been easier than I thought it would be. At nearly 50 I'm staring menopause in the face so I'm fully prepared to go back on it if I need to due to meno effects but I'm happy to have got to a healthy weight beforehand.
