I don't know it it's a 'mental load'/what Mum says effect that means DH doesn't start on the bits of special food unless I do.

This means he's naturally eating less too 😆. We have friends visiting tomorrow for Grinchmas so will get them to eat some 😄. We're planning some Grinch cocktails so that will bump up the days calories lol.

My midweek weigh in today was up as expected, I hit the gym this morning and will take DS out for a walk later.

InfoSecInTheCity · 27/12/2024 10:55

Well weight has stayed the same so far over the Xmas festivities, no loss, no gain which I'm counting as a success so far. Going away for the weekend to a cabin with a hot tub, so eating will be off track as won't have my prepped meals and we'll be eating out at attractions and things but will still try to stay sensible.

85reasons · 27/12/2024 14:53

It sounds like lots of you have done really well this Christmas - I’ve definitely eaten less than I would have done (given that I’m not “restricting” so am allowing myself to eat what I like rather than forcing myself to be low carb, for example) but I’ve grazed chocolates, mince pies etc. I haven’t weighed but imagine I’ll be a couple of pounds heavier.

Crucially though, as soon as the mince pies and chocolate are finished, it’ll be back to normal eating habits!

7Purpleheartsarmy · 27/12/2024 22:42

Hi hope you are all well, does anyone else feel small bumps under the skin on the tops of the legs and they feel tender to touch? I read it could be fat cells dieing 🤔

GoldieLocks09 · 28/12/2024 03:05

Hope everyone has had a lovely Christmas! I’ve definitely had a bit more food / alcohol than I wanted to but nowhere near what I would have done previously but I am due to go up to 7.5mg but did my bonus dose last week on 5mg.
I’m currently at my BIL’s (have been since Xmas Eve) and feeling pretty rough - I think it’s the rich food and even though I’ve not been drunk, I’ve had a couple of drinks at least per day. Cannot wait to get home tomorrow - I’m up and down to the toilet constantly, I’ve got a bit of a tummy ache all the time and I don’t want any more bloody cheese. But on the brighter side, I’ve had lots of comments on my weight over Christmas, I also wore a pair of new jeans which are the first pair I’ve bought and fit into since DS was born over a year ago!

sylv165 · 28/12/2024 09:30

One of the few benefits of spending Christmas with flu - I am 4lbs down since Christmas Eve. Got to look on the positive side 🤦‍♀️🤣

Tipster100 · 28/12/2024 09:57

Well done everyone getting through Xmas.

I did a real push the week before Xmas having had no losses the week before and managed 4lb loss. I didn't do my jab last Saturday as I wanted to avoid side effects if I over indulged. Am quite glad as have ill over the whole week and don't think I could have faced anything else in my system. Have been drinking wine and eating chocolate just to get through. Weighed this morning and am just half a pound up so am pleased with that. Am out tonight at a party so will jab tomorrow. Am on 5mg. Do you think I'll be ok to do the full 5mg after a week/8 days off? Has anyone else done that?

I found most of the Xmas food made me feel sick to look at because fatty food gives me such side effects. Hope this is a lasting feature! Sadly not so much the sugar so I really need to look out for that. I could feel it creeping in. Luckily I feel so good having lost weight I tried hard not to over do it.

Am also looking forward to normality for my poor body.

MandarinDentistTiger · 28/12/2024 12:11

@Tipster100 I had about 10 days off and injected 10mg, no problems. I am a slower loser and don't have many side effects

I've put about 3lb on. I have drank a lot more than I have for ages. I've been walking a lot more and have a steps target to try to get things moving.

I'm going up to 7.5mg tonight. Planning on getting right back on things today rather than waiting for New Year. That would have been inconceivable before.

Really good to know - thanks so much for replying. I have minimal side effects as long as I don't eat anything too rich so should hopefully be ok. Hope the moving works for you.

20bloodypounds · 28/12/2024 16:57

@7Purpleheartsarmy my understanding is that with weight loss (whether through injections, low calorie diet, low carb etc) the fat cells don't die, they lose their fat content but the cells remain - just empty. It's primeval mechanism that allows us to easily store fat in times of plenty without having to use some of the energy to grow new fat cells. In general we have roughly the same number of total fat cells in our bodies throughout our adult life, it's just the amout of fat that is stored in them that changes. The death of fat cells (fat necrosis) usually only occurs when there is damage to adipose tissue or the loss of blood supply to the area, neither of which are a normal result to weight loss injections.

Sorry that doesn't explain your tender bumps.

I went back down a dose over Christmas, injected on Thursday and have strong supression today - was out for brunch and could only eat one poached egg.

7Purpleheartsarmy · 28/12/2024 18:27

Thankyou for the information maybe i need a trip to the dr as i also have a dull pain in that leg 🤔x

Peachesandfizz · 28/12/2024 20:44

Haven't posted about my mounjaro journey for a while. I started on 1st September and hit 3 stone loss on Christmas Eve, so super happy with my progress so far. I've got two stone left to go to target.

Didn't jab on my usual Saturday last weekend as I didn't want to feel nauseous over Christmas, so delayed until Boxing day instead. Still had a good amount of suppression over the festive period but did notice more food noise and I was picking a bit. Hoping to get another two stone off by April.

People have started to notice the weight loss now, although apparently not my mother in law who bought me two size 20 tunics for Christmas, bearing in mind I was an 18 at my largest and I've never worn a tunic in my life! 😂

Seldomseenkid · 29/12/2024 09:11

Good morning. I kept to my normal pattern over the Christmas period and still calorie tracked but I tracked out of curiosity rather than to keep within a guideline. I think a lot of my weight gain has been my guessing at calories and portion size, so to see what modest Christmas day eating looks like and have it come in at just under 2000 calories shows me just how easy I could find it to over eat when not on MJ.

I was working around Christmas and so I found those days on site a welcome relief and a bit of calm! I lost half a pound this week and I think that was down to just having 2 days of lovely food and the rest as normal. Actually my normal diet is lovely too, just doesn’t involve as much alcohol and chocolate.

I’m 7 pounds off target now for a healthy BMI and I’ve decided that it will be 2 more pens, I had hoped for 1 but that’s not going to work for me and I also want to titrate down and not go cold turkey.

Happy new year all.

InfoSecInTheCity · 29/12/2024 09:44

@Seldomseenkid I'm away so no access to scales but hopefully when I weight Tuesday I won't be horrified.

Like you I've kept up calorie counting as best I can and tried to eat in moderation.

What I found particularly illuminating was the Xmas dinner we had Boxing Day at jnlaws.

I deliberately went light on the trimmings and heavy on the boiled veg. So only had 1 piece of roast potato which was about half a small potato, 1 little Yorkie, 1 pig in blanket. Even so it was a calorie heavy meal about 650 calories for the plate. Then I had an individual Xmas pudding which was probably half the size of the portion I'd usually serve from a big pud and it was nearly 400 calories without custard or anything.

I stayed under 2000 for the day but can easily see how it would have been possible to double or triple that without even really trying to over eat.

Hildabaggins · 29/12/2024 12:30

Good to read about the progress everyone is making. I lost 2lb since my last weigh in on 21st. I am happy with that. We were staying with my ILs for Christmas and they don’t have a lot of food in that I like, so I imagine that saved me! I probably would have eaten more if we had stayed in our own home.

I am 2.5lb off being in the next stone bracket. So close! That was my first goal when I started on this. And 4.5lb off being a healthy BMI, which is my second goal.

I need to go shopping for jeans but I hate shopping for jeans!

MandarinDentistTiger · 29/12/2024 12:31

@Peachesandfizz.

I am two stone over about the same period. 16 weeks and 28lbs down. Not as much as I'd like but definitely the right direction.

I've gone up to 7.5mg. My next milestone to to be to the next stone bracket.

Seldomseenkid · 29/12/2024 12:44

Yep @InfoSecInTheCity I did the same,
loaded on veg and protein and had small portions of pudding, some alcohol and chocs and it came in about 1900. I’d overindulged a few weeks back and paid the price so I was actively trying to avoid feeling unwell!

Adelstrop · 29/12/2024 13:15

I've lost nearly 2 stone since September, but it takes me ages to actually look any different (I am built a bit like children draw people - round body on skinny legs), so I was delighted yesterday to buy a jumper in the Seasalt sale that is 2 sizes smaller than the size I was in September. Not such a change in the middle, but any success is welcome! Happy new year everyone.

sylv165 · 29/12/2024 13:58

@Hildabaggins i really need new jeans too. Not sure whether to wait until I get closer to my target or try and get a few things in the sales. I still have at least a stone to go before I am at my target weight, which realistically is another dress size. I did buy a pair of M&S magic shaping flared jeans a couple of months ago that I really liked, but are starting to get a bit baggy now. Sounds like you are quite close to your target weight now so jeans shopping might not be as bad as you think!

sylv165 · 29/12/2024 14:04

I’m currently trying to work out what my target weight should be. I am very short, and a healthy BMI for me is between 6st 11lbs and 9st 2lbs. I was really happy with my weight in my early 30s when I was 8st, give or take a lb, but very fit and toned. However, now I am mid-40s that just doesn’t feel achievable. I want to stick at a weight that feels slim and healthy, but also feels possible to maintain. I’m thinking maybe 9st might feel reasonable. Only another 4lbs until I see a 9 on the scales which feels unbelievable!

Doggymummar · 29/12/2024 16:32

Such happy stories on here. I ordered a couple of dresses in the sales, size 14 to shrink into, they are both a great fit already so should have got size 12. I've still got about 5 stone to lose to be bottom end of healthy BMI but I felt I deserved something that fitted. Today I have sorted out my wardrobe and have about 100 size 20 and 18 items to load onto VINTED over the next few days. All my summer stuff is in the loft and was new this year in a 16 so I imagine that will go when it comes down again.

Itisallgoingtobeok · 29/12/2024 16:47

I'm 2.3lbs down in the last week. I spent Christmas alone, so took the opportunity to have food I liked, but not too much. I have also upped my exercise, which I think has really helped too.

My belt is three holes tighter than when I started and today I realised I could wear a ring my Mum bought me when I was a teenager again. The number on the scales is great but these non-scale related changes are even better IMO.

Onwards and downwards everyone!

MandarinDentistTiger · 29/12/2024 18:46

At 2 stone down, I cannot really tell and only one person has mentioned that I have lost weight. I have a long way to go but I'm determined to get there.

I think it is probably taboo to comment on someone's weight unless you are really close or the person concerns mentions it.

Someone offered me an absolutely enormous top because it was "way too big for them". It was in front of a lot of people and felt rude and insensitive. I wasn't bothered but said something because it was unkind, regardless of intent.

I have a blood test to book. I know I'll be asked to pop on the scales.

ILoveLeopard245 · 29/12/2024 21:12

I’ve had a bit of a stall recently. Moved up to 5mg and have stayed the same for the past 3 weeks. I’m just keeping on going - I am on the ww glp plan and I’m tracking and have started running (say that loosely) again. Hopefully things will move in the right direction soon.

Do you tell people you are using weight loss medication?
