Afternoon all - my New Year’s resolution is to start to focus on fitness and health above actual weight loss.. it’s such a strange position to be in to have discovered these drugs and in a way, that the question of successful weight loss down to a healthy weight has been answered - it’s no longer a battle.

I listened to the recent BBC podcast on GLP-1s which was very thought-provoking - although all the doctors and academics interviewed were positive about the development, one doctor urged caution with mass rollout on the NHS because there is a very real possibility that some already nutritionally deficient obese patients could experience worsening deficiencies. I realise that although I’m mostly tending towards healthier choices and have very little interest in UPFs, I’m quite sure that some days I am not eating enough protein or vitamins/minerals - I’m just not eating enough overall. I’ve also wanted to focus on allowing myself to eat normally and without excluding any food groups, and have realised I’m absolutely sick of tracking calories, eating ‘diet foods’ like protein powders etc.

For some reason her message really resonated with me and I’m determined to make my New Year focus be on maximising nutrition and wellbeing, hopefully with some confidence that I don’t need to worry so much about impact on any scales.

Happy Christmas all! 🎄🌲🎄

Im going to be starting a new pen soon which is 7.5mg but wanted to only take 5mg as I'm titrating up slowly. Would that be 40 clicks?

Also us September starters have been on for nearly 3-4 months. Are we in the hair loss stage or is anyone doing anything thats prevented it. Maybe its inevitable for those who have lost 30+ lbs any advice would be great as I’m currently shedding.

20bloodypounds · 24/12/2024 20:05

@StanleyCup yes. 20 clicks for every 2.5mg on that pen.

@85reasons I'm with you on the good health in 2025. I've still got about a stone to go to get to my final target, and I want to use that time to develop really good eating habits and to plan meals around nutritional balance - eating a rainbow, some pulses and legumes, some fermented food, healthy sources of protein probably not pigs in blankets!

We have all come a long way since we started in September. I've not lost massive amounts but I am in a place with my weight and my self imagine that I couldn't have imagined in the summer time.

Merry Christmas to everyone xx

85reasons · 24/12/2024 21:36

Me too @20bloodypounds - I've said before on here but I lost a lot of weight about 3-4 years ago and then had put 2.5-3 stone back on - so although this time around I've not had a huge mountain to climb, it had been feeling really depressing to see the weight rapidly ticking upwards (again) and I'm cautiously excited about being free of this eternal weight struggle. I've got about a stone to go too, having lost 30 pounds since early Sept.

GoldieLocks09 · 24/12/2024 23:21

@StanleyCup would love to know of any tricks you hear of re hair loss!

MissBPotter · 25/12/2024 08:10

Quick check in before the Christmas chaos starts! 1.5lbs down this week so 1st 12.5 pounds overall. I’ve not quite hit my 2st target but a nice Christmas gift is bmi is now 25.

hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and manage at least a few treats!

Doggymummar · 25/12/2024 10:03

Oops forgot to weigh today. Is it wednesday? I need to jab in that case, already drunk about a pint of Bailey's in my coffee so probs best not weigh today. Have a lovely day one and all.

It is indeed Wednesday, quick do the jab before you lose the ability to see straight enough to jab it in 😂

It's 10.30am Christmas morning and unlike the last 30 odd years, I have not started my day with a selection box breakfast, just a nice coffee so far.

DD has been spoiled rotten and is currently sat amid a ludicrous amount of wrapping paper and toys looking a bit shell shocked.

Merry Xmas everyone!

Doggymummar · 25/12/2024 10:53

I was joking about a pint on Bailey's, it was a bit left from the glass I had last night. We have been given so many chocolates and biscuits it's a good job my oh eats like a load of horses. My target is to weigh less than him. That was originally 120lb I needed to lose and I did ask him to help by getting porkier, I think it's now another 40lb so it's working. He's about 10 and a half stone so that will be high end of healthy weight for me at 5foot 4

Doggymummar · 25/12/2024 12:51

Just did my injection but I wasn't watching and just twisted it till it stopped. Does any one know if it's possible to go round twice? Or will it stop when it gets to 1. Bit worried I've done 20mg instead of 10.

It stops when it gets to 1, you're safe.

I think it stops.

Doggymummar · 25/12/2024 13:50

Thank you! Had a little panic for a minute

mimosa1 · 26/12/2024 10:51

Hi everyone,
I hope you all had a lovely Xmas. I had a great day but overindulged and boy did I suffer overnight afterwards. My poor guts. Am still feeling rather fragile!
Interesting discussion re hair loss. I've loads LOADS of hair - my dr friend recommended biotin as a supplement. I'm having some blood tests next week though to check there aren't any underlying nutritional deficiencies that have triggered it (sort of what you were saying about your podcast @85reasons ).
Onwards :)

doodleschnoodle · 26/12/2024 10:55

Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas!

I saved myself all day for my Christmas dinner so actually managed a decent enough portion and even some Heroes while watching TV later. And to my immense shock I've managed to lose 5lbs in the past week after a plateau of 10 days or so. So I'm now down to 154lbs and almost at the 50lbs lost this year mark. A nice extra gift Grin

DH got me some new clothes in my new smaller size, it was nice to tell him to get an M and not an XL! And tbh I think I actually could now get away with an S, which blows my mind. Also got a new Molke bra, I've gone down several band sizes since losing weight and am now a 32G so need new bras! I was a 38 band or something before!

Bumblebeehum · 26/12/2024 11:17

Morning, delayed my jab by 4 days so I could get drinks on Christmas Eve and eat yesterday (lunch plus grazing). Feel bloody awful!!

EBoo80 · 26/12/2024 12:02

I had moved my jab forward a day (to Sunday) so managed to eat pretty normally (ie not my usual festive binging) all day with no ill effects. Just had leftover tiramisu for breakfast - but not feeling any guilt or shame about it. Hope everyone feeling fine and enjoying themselves!

20bloodypounds · 26/12/2024 16:12

I went back down to 2.5mg (from 5mg) for last week, so that I could participate in Christmas lunch, but also enjoy cooking it. It's the first time in ages that I have had a starter and a main (even if I only had a half portion of salmon main course, and even then some of my dinner was left). I enjoyed it all but I've probably put on a little bit of weight.

I'm going to inject 2.5mg again today (day 6) and then start creeping up the doses again.

SpiderMother · 26/12/2024 20:34

I feel like I’ve eaten more today than on Xmas day. I was actually down this morning though and tonight I will jab so I’m drawing a line under Xmas after today and back to normal.

This week: Injection 17
weekly loss - 2.1 lbs
total mj loss - 32.4 lbs
total loss - 38.4 lbs

Parents and MIL all noticed and said nice things. But I’d planned an outfit and it didn’t arrive (thanks Royal Mail) and I did have a cry about nothing fitting. It’s a weird emotional journey. But starting January thinking about maintenance and not about another year of failing to diet feels so good.

LittleBitAlexa · 27/12/2024 06:30

I delayed my dose so I have eaten fairly normally over Christmas. I've enjoyed it but I'm ready to fire the MJ in today and get back at it.

friendlymummy · 27/12/2024 09:56

Lovely to catch up on this thread and see how well everyone is doing. Christmas is a major flashpoint for me. Every year it derails my weight loss efforts and I spend until Easter trying to lose the festive pounds I'd gained. This year, I jabbed as normal on Sunday and while I enjoyed small portions of Christmas food, it was unbelievably liberating not to gorge in the way I usually do. I hosted 20 family members yesterday with an enormous Boxing Day buffet which I enjoyed preparing but didn't eat much of. I've woken up today recognising how truly life-changing these injections are.

Doggymummar · 27/12/2024 10:09

I jabbed as usual on Christmas day and haven't over eaten or drunk more than a half glass of wine. The combination of a little extra and sitting around had resulted in a two pound gain though. I weigh the same as I did on December 7th so I see that as not too bad. Still two weeks off work left though so I need to make an effort to be a bit less sedentary. I usually do about 1000 steps when working and have only managed a couple of hundred for the last few days.

I've looked at last year and I gained ten pound in Dec, Jan and Feb before getting a grip in March.

SpottyBumPony · 27/12/2024 10:10

My Mum is taking MJ for her diabetes. We sat yesterday and mused aloud at how we managed so many years where we would have croissants for breakfast, christmas dinner, chocolates, then turkey sandwiches and bits for tea, trifle and probably more nuts and chocolates. Then boxing day would be breakfast again, mash potato and cold cuts for lunch, more treats, christmas cake, more trifle and cheese/buffet for tea. Where did it all fit 😳

sylv165 · 27/12/2024 10:32

I had quite a bit of wine on Christmas Eve, but woke up on Christmas Day with flu so have barely eaten anything since. Still feeling pretty rotten but on the plus side I'm unlikely to have gained much weight so I guess I can take that as a positive

I know what you mean. There is barely a dint in our fridge. All the desserts untouched. I just counted 18 packets of cheese. Pate, terrines, pork belly packets of bacon sourdough crumpets muffins bread all untouched and to be fair out of date now. Guess it was me that used to eat them!
