Do you tell people you are using weight loss medication?

Hi yes most people know i am now and not had any negativity more interest in it than anything else x

85reasons · 30/12/2024 08:17

I feel like I've completely lost my MJ mojo..! Haven't skipped a dose or anything but have gone back to unstructured grazing, eating more rubbish, and have put some weight back on over Christmas. I had house guests till yesterday and am away for New Year, so hoping things settle down after that!

Capricornandproud · 30/12/2024 08:43

Hello everyone, this thread has really given me a boot up the bum to get back the MJ track! I started in 1st Sept weighing in at 13st 10, and I’m less than 5ft 2. Currently 11st 7 but totally stuck at this weight for a few weeks now… however, I missed a dose over xmas as I ordered on the sunday, and it wasn’t delivered until the 27th! One thing I noticed without it was ACTUAL hunger, which I don’t really feel at all on MJ (taking 3.75mg per week). I might really titrate up to using the full 5mg pen to get the next 2 stone off. I have thin, crap hair but haven’t noticed any hair loss - yet. It just might be hard to tell on my hair!

also… anyone experiencing a neck that looks a bit crepey and deflated boobs? Just me?!

Bumblebeehum · 30/12/2024 09:11

Morning everyone, good to see how everyone coped with Christmas.

It's check-in day for me and the scale is showing +2lbs which I'm not happy about but I know I can drop that in a week (fingers crossed).

Am finding it v difficult not to graze on chocolate that is still lying around. Hoping I can drop the habit and return to healthy eating this week, will be weighing every day to keep me on track.

sylv165 · 30/12/2024 09:59

Pondering over whether to take my jab today or not. I’m still not feeling 100% after being ill over Christmas and haven’t eaten very much at all since Christmas Day. Not got my appetite back so don’t currently need it for suppression, and think that once I am better I’ll need to eat a decent meal or two to get some strength back as am totally wiped out. I’m also worried it will make me feel sick just as I am starting to feel a bit more human!

What have others done when they have been ill - just taken it as normal?

Hildabaggins · 30/12/2024 10:16

I’ve just done my injection. It was strange though. This time, a lump formed under my skin where I was injecting it. That’s never happened before. It went away after about 5-10 minutes. Has this happened to anyone else?

sylv165 · 30/12/2024 10:32

@Hildabaggins after my first jab I seemed to take a bit of a reaction with a raised, red bump at the injection site. It went away pretty quickly and has never happened again!

Hildabaggins · 30/12/2024 11:39

Thanks! Hopefully it will be fine.

Sampler · 30/12/2024 12:57

@Capricornandproud hands up here to the deflated boobs and crepey neck !
I am wearing polo necks a lot now and I guess I need new bras. I expect there has to be a down side to weight loss. I’m trying to do neck exercises and using oils etc and hoping that it straightens out (optimism) 😀

Yes me too, I'm also not sure but it seems to be kind of wearing off a bit? I do also take some other meds which cause cravings as well so it could be that. I'm on 10mg and a few weeks ago that felt really strong as well.

Orangesandlemons77 · 30/12/2024 13:20

I also found with guests staying it was more difficult. Going back to intermittent fasting, now.

20bloodypounds · 30/12/2024 14:27

@Orangesandlemons77 I'm back on intermittent fasting, which I find relatively easy with MJ. Today we're out for dinner so I just had brunch at 11am, and that will see me through until 7pm. Taking our dinner hosts one of the huge boxes of biscuits that I was given for Christmas - I'm not really tempted but it's best to get them out of the house. I also donated some Xmas chocolate to dd for a long bus journey.

@Capricornandproud and @Sampler I'm enjoying the deflated boobs! Well not the saggy shape but certainly appreciating the reduced size and that they don't get in the way so much!

@Hildabaggins I've had that randomly a couple of times. I assumed that the end of the needle was partially against some tiny bodily structure (a bit of cartilage or tendon perhpas?) rather than directly into fat or muscle, so it took a little longer to disperse. It didn't seem to have any impact on the effectiveness of MJ.

MandarinDentistTiger · 30/12/2024 22:13

Pre MJ I was doing a 36 hour fast. I haven't tried that long since starting.

7.5mg is going ok. I am feeling full after small meals. That has never happened before.

The pattern has always been that I feel very bloated for two days post jab and have a small weight gain. I lose a moderate amount over the week.

InfoSecInTheCity · 31/12/2024 07:35

I have been really ill recently too and like you I felt I didn't need the extra side effects. I took my jab 4 days late and then took 7.5 rather than the full 10. I will be back on 10 this week though.

Happy New Year everyone!

Setting my 2025 weightloss goals.

So I am starting the year overweight with a BMI of 26.8 which is 176.5 lbs / 80.2 kg / 12 st 8.5 lbs.

I would like to be a healthy BMI by end of Feb a loss of 13 lbs in the next 8 weeks which I think is doable.

I am not at all sure where I want to go from there. That would put me at roughly the same weight I was at the end of Primary School, I have no frame of reference for what I as an adult will look like in the 11st range.

I will re-assess my goals then and see what I want to do. I currently feel like I'd like to aim for a BMI around 22/23 so I'm firmly in the Healthy range and that would be an end weight of 145-151 lbs.

It feels very strange realising that it's actually realistic that I could hit this goal. I was going to Weight Watchers when I was 11, I've been obese/morbidly obese for 3 quarters of my life, every memory of myself, every photo is of a fat kid/adult.

I will likely be heading to the US mid year for an annual meeting for work, I can't wait to sit in the airplane seat and not feel like my arse is being squeezed in and have the fear that the belt won't do up.

Glad its not just me but it’s strange to see in the mirror now, isn’t it?! I expected my boobs to shrink back but it’s a small price to pay. I can now get into some of my old bras again but really trying to pay attention to the neck with some new products. If anyone has any recommendations do shout!

Capricornandproud · 01/01/2025 08:55

…and Happy New Year everyone!

Doggymummar · 01/01/2025 09:27

Happy New Year 🎊 🎊 🎊 I am using this of my neck and it feels better

I also bought some fake collars, three rollneck and a piecrust to go under jumpers for Zoom calls.

Mosmam · 01/01/2025 09:35

Happy New Year Everyone! I went to the gym this morning and actually looked in the mirror without total shame. I've still got loads to lose but I can finally see a difference. It is amazing how I have got through years with avoiding looking at myself in photos, mirrors etc. It occurs to me that I might consider getting a mirror at home soon!

20bloodypounds · 01/01/2025 10:07

@InfoSecInTheCity How fantastic that your goals are realistic - this is time for the REAL you, the one who has been there all along.

Happy New Year everyone - we've made so much progress. I am delighted I started this journey in 2024, for so many of us 2025 will see previously unimaginable tartgets being reached. Yeah!

MissBPotter · 01/01/2025 10:08

Happy new year everyone. I’m impressed that many of you have still lost over Xmas. Even though I know I ate and drank loads less than I normally would have, I still gained 0.1 kg (which I guess is basically nothing so maybe I should consider it maintenance). I am still on 2.5 and thinking this may be my last pen. Still getting bad reactions at the injection site and just feeling a bit over it! I still need to continue losing though as I’m hovering around 25 bmi (got below it earlier this week but I think that was due to using different scales).

SpiderMother · 01/01/2025 11:06

Happy New Year everyone. I'm sure everyone on this thread is starting the year feeling better and more hopeful than they started last year. Its an amazing feeling.

I'm hoping to reach my goal by the end of February. So my key goal for 2025 is maintenance and fitness. I've let my exercise drop off a bit to focus on weight loss and because I started a new job in October but it's time to start focusing on it again.

sylv165 · 01/01/2025 11:38

Happy New Year everyone! I started on 17th September at 12st 2lbs and a BMI of 33. Moving into 2025 at 10st 4lbs and BMI 28. I am not really sure what my final goal will be - I have 9st in my head but will see how I feel as I get closer. That would be just within a healthy BMI.

From this point on I think I am going to be more concerned with health and fitness rather than weight. Exercise is something I used to enjoy but have found increasingly difficult as I have gained weight. I really want to get my mojo back so going to start c25k at the weekend, and do a couple of kettlebell sessions a week. I’m also going to focus on cutting down on UPFs and being more organised at cooking from scratch. Speakibg of which, I am off to start making some chicken and vegetable broth for lunch for the next few days!
