What are good 'high street' shops for wedding dresses? Pref. plain empire line...?

I have been married nearly 5 years but never got around to having the blessing so DH and I are just going to book and do it just pretty much on our own. I want to wear some sort of dress (I wore a pale blue suit last time ), so was thinking a plain white empire line with a lace 'overcoat' with a slight train, and maybe a blue satin sash under the bust with a pearl broach (how on earth do you spell that word?!) in the centre. It's harder than I thought to find a simple empire line dress, not even on ebay. I only want to spend around £100 (would pay more if it was beyond lovely!) as I'll prob. only wear it once. Failing that, has anyone had a dress made? My mum could make it no problems but I want to do this 'on my own', but dare not attempt to make it myself! Thanks

I got my turquoise wedding dress in Debenhams, they had a pretty big choice - it was £100, and £30ish for a little bolero (sp?) to go with it for the reception. my mum did embroidery on the dress though

by the way I believe it's brooch

I put that down (brooch) but in my head it came out very scottish sounding! Thanks

Monsoon .... They have some lovely ones this season ... (or was it last season looked?)

You could try Milly Bridal, the prices are in USD so you could get a dress for around £150, made to measure which is pretty good value!

i think that Debenhams bridalwear islovely,
but you could also look at prom dresses, like in John Lewis they have a load of dresses called "debut" (i think): very posh, long frocks, but much cheaper than a wedding dress (and yes, they come in white too!)

Coast can be lovely as well but closer to the £200 mark if you are looking for a long dress. Also, you can check out M&S.

Have you thought of using StyleShake? You can design and choose colours yourself (within limits) and even have it made to your exact measurements. I think they only have ivory rather than white in their silk selection, though.

I got my wedding dress from TK Maxx!

It is a ball gown, and has nothing wrong with it, I have got all my evening dresses from there as I refuse to pay loads for a dress I will prob only wear once or twice, and while there I saw THE dress, so I now have a dress that makes me feel like a princess, fits with my colour scheme, and all for £25.
