DP and I can't agree - he wants Enrique Iglesias - Hero and I would like Michael Buble's Everything. Neither of us will budge so are looking for a compromise !

Carpenters, 'we've only just begun'. We'd been together 15 years and had 3 children when we got married, and it was perfect.

RubyBlueberry · 13/08/2009 18:43

Amazed by Lonestar.

I loved the song so much I bought everything they ever relased, yeeeeeeehaaaaaaww cowboy!

maize · 18/08/2009 22:22

Bubbly by Colbie Callait

hatwoman · 18/08/2009 22:27

the Silver Waltz by Strauss. 'twas fantastic fun to spin round in waltzing circles and then my mum and dh's dad and then a few others joined in. much better than smooching. the only other one I'd consider, were I to do it all again, would be the Bare Necessities from the Jungle Book.

theboob · 18/08/2009 22:30

Bryan Adams, Heaven

ralphlauren · 18/08/2009 22:31

Another Level who sang the theme for Notting Hill. Lovely words.

poorbuthappy · 18/08/2009 22:32

So happy together... the turtles...actually taken from the end credits of shrek doing the kareoke thing...thanks mostly to my sister in law to be at the time...
absolutely brilliant...

Wilts · 18/08/2009 22:33

Abba- Dancing Queen

feedthegoat · 18/08/2009 22:34

To the end by Blur

Pinner35 · 18/08/2009 22:37

We had 'She is Love' by Oasis.....not a slow song, but it has a special meaning to us

twelveyeargap · 18/08/2009 22:40

Michael Jackson - Don't Stop til You Get Enough. We got the DJ to play the opening bars of The Carpenters - Close to You for a laugh and then scratch it off for MJ. Wanted a song that we both likes and that everyone could have a boogie to, instead of a sloppy slow number.

Lulubee · 18/08/2009 22:50

Didn't have a first dance but if I had my time again it would be 'Your Love Keeps Lifting me Higher' by Jackie Wilson for a first dance and 'To Make you Feel my Love' sung by Adele (written by Bob Dylan) which has some of the most beautiful lyrics ever written...

piprabbit · 18/08/2009 22:52

'You do something to me' by Paul Weller.

Megglevache · 18/08/2009 22:54

At Last by Etta James- dh's choice then

Here, there and everywhere- not sure who it's by though.

VivClicquot · 11/09/2009 14:11

Lulubee One of my bridesmaids is going to sing 'Make You Feel My Love' for us during our civil ceremony. It's just the most beautiful song and makes me cry every time.

Our first dance, btw, will be Rule The World by Take That.

LadyStealthPolarBear · 11/09/2009 14:13

Johnny B Good - wasn't really a first dance though
A friend of mine had Metallica - Nothing else matters

LadyStealthPolarBear · 11/09/2009 14:13

Just on the off chance she's an MNer I thought it was fantastic - that wasn't a patronising !

This is my actual first dance. Check out the fact that I had a waistline. Always remember that whenever I post. I. Had. A. Waistline.

Anyway, was fab!

SemperEadem · 12/09/2009 11:00

Got you under my skin - Frank Sinatra

FfreckleFface · 12/09/2009 11:20

Elvis - we had The Wonder of You too. It was a toss up between that and You're In My Heart by Rod the God.

Bloke put up a fight for Yesterday by the Beatles, but I convinced him that would be inappropriate ...

star1976 · 14/09/2009 18:53

Oh so glad I found this thread, getting married 6th November and we don't have 'a song' so need to find something. DP has put a block on anything by a boyband which really throws all my ideas out.

Wanted take that, million love songs, or rule the world.

Love Bon Jovi so trying the think of something by them?????

cyteen · 16/09/2009 12:36

SoH, that looks like great fun

DP and I are still wrangling over this. So far he's vetoed my suggestion of You Know Me Better by Roisin Murphy, we've considered but rejected 'Fade Into You' by Mazzy Star and Girls Aloud 'Untouchable'. I think Radiohead 'All I Need' was the last one up for consideration, but thanks to someone upthread I have been reminded of the awesomeness of 'You Got The Love' so have sent that over to him
